October 12th saw the launch of Hijack Our Kitchen, a signature dining concept from Urban Bistro.
Once a month, a local personality from various industries is invited to create a menu of their choice and host a night as a would-be restaurateur.
After selecting the host, they are asked to create a dinner menu consisting of any number of courses. They then meet with our Chef and in house team and brief them on the specifics of their menu, flavors, service style, plating and any cooking secrets they wish to have included in their dinner night. Once the team believe that they have perfected the dishes according to the guidelines of our host, we invite them in for a tasting to get their stamp of approval on the final dishes.
Guests are invited from across the city to join in on the final dinner. We encourage our host to construct a menu that reflects something meaningful in their lives, and that when opening the evening share their stories with the guests – making it a warm and personal dining experience. Each event will be tailored to the preference of the host from the food service style, the layout of the seating, the table deco and any goodies/gifts given as a take home treat.
A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated by Urban Bistro to a charity with particular meaning to the host, who will also have an opportunity to shed light on the cause to the wider community.
During our October launch event, Dubai Eye’s Anna Roberts hosted a traditional New Zealand dinner. Based on her family’s regular Sunday roast tradition, Anna chose a three course meal consisting of onion soup dip, two varieties of roast and hokey-pokey ice cream – a must have in any Kiwi household. Anna kicked off the night sharing the history of her family’s favorite food, and also the run-about-town that the food team had in search of the right dessert cream for the onion soup dip. All the guests left with a treat of Afghan biscuits, made from Anna’s mums cook-book.
The event is advertised across Urban Bistro’s social media platforms (@UrbanDubai), and booking is essential as seats are limited.
The next Hijack Our Kitchen event takes place on 16 November 2014, hosted by business owner and endurance athlete, Tom Otton.
Delivery
Launched just over a month ago, the new delivery menu offers a unique variety of dishes that have become favorites in the restaurant. For the month of November, any delivery order placed between 3pm and 9pm will receive 50% OFF the bill.
Brunch
Friday Brunch has kicked off with great success! Guests looking for a late start to the weekend can enjoy a variety of dishes from healthy salads to hearty curries, along with the famous Urban Bistro fresh juice range. The brunch costs AED 95, and is available every Friday from 11am – 4pm. With the cooler months creeping in, the restaurant opens its doors to the breeze and great lakeside view, when the bustling Media City has a day off.
All day breakfast
There is no better way to extend your weekend than to enjoy a late breakfast. With a wide variety of indulgent favorites, or healthy alternatives, you can enjoy all day breakfast every Saturday. With the calm and tranquil waterside scenery and soon to launch, mellow tunes from upcoming music talent in the region – it’s the perfect way to transition back to the chaos of a work week.
