A CSR activity, the visit lends emotional and spiritual support to both patients and families
Dubai, UAE (July 11, 2013) – Ramada Downtown Dubai, located in Dubai's most prestigious and vibrant district, recently visited the Gulf International Cancer Center in Abu Dhabi to lend emotional and spiritual support to cancer patients and their families who are fighting the devastating illness.
The team spent a day at the center and distributed souvenirs and confectioneries to 35 patients who along with their families were delighted to receive the gifts. The activity was part of Ramada Downtown's CSR project aimed at reaching out to the community.
Twinkle K. Akharia, Sales & Marketing Executive, headed the visit and represented Ramada Downtown. She was joined by her colleagues from the hotel's different departments. Akharia said, “It was a very emotional but joyous day because we felt how the patients and their families were coping and struggling to fight the disease and yet they were still smiling, not losing hope and very positive about life. They were very grateful to us for spending time with them as well as offering them the emotional support that they need. It was a good feeling knowing that we made a lot of patients happy that day!”
Wael El Behi, General Manager, Ramada Downtown Dubai, added: “We have chosen to visit the Gulf International Cancer Center because we all know the impact of cancer to both patient and their families. This life-threatening disease is distressing for the family and affects both their daily functioning and economic situation. By visiting the center and talking to the patients and their families, we hope to have given them a sigh of relief even for just one day!”
Gulf International Cancer Center is the first out-patient facility in the GCC to provide cancer care following US clinical standards, in collaboration with The George Washington Medical Center. The center is managed by highly experience medical staff and the scope of services includes many areas in cancer diagnosis and advanced cancer treatments.
