Dubai, April 29, 2020: Oman Insurance Company has launched Home Umbrella, a comprehensive home insurance product that provides cover for homeowners and tenants. The product offers protection for contents such as household items, precious belongings and legal liabilities, on top of the regular property insurance.
In the UAE, home insurance is not usually considered an essential protection by most people. Roughly 10% of UAE’s residents have a home insurance cover despite a spate of high-profile incidents like fires, accidents and natural calamities in recent years. In one such incident in 2015, when the Torch Tower caught fire in Dubai Marina, Oman Insurance provided a much-needed respite to homeowners ensuring quick payments. At the time, many tenants without an insurance cover were left homeless and baffled.
In time of confinement, it is more important than ever to protect apartments and houses with insurance. Some of the key features offered by the Home Umbrella include new for old cover, protection even when the property is unoccupied, cost of alternative accommodation, and tenant’s liability.
As the leader in personal insurance, Oman Insurance provides a quick claims process with minimum documentation. This is to ensure that homeowners and tenants that are already going through a rough period, are quickly back on their feet.
Customers will have the flexibility to choose the cover based on their needs. They can opt to cover buildings, home contents, personal belongings and domestic help. Starting with a premium of AED 1 per day, customers will be able to avail cover for almost everything valuable in their home.
Commenting on the launch, Julien Audrerie, Head of Consumer Lines at Oman Insurance, said: “We are excited to launch this new product as it further strengthens our retail offering for individual clients. Home Umbrella is a comprehensive, flexible and affordable insurance package to protect what matters to our clients. It is simple to understand, easy to buy and provides a straight through process in case of a claim. This, we believe, is key to ensure a smooth experience for our customers.”
