Dubai Auditions for ‘The Sound of Music'

The award winning, acclaimed production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s legendary musical The Sound of Music is returning to Dubai in 2016 and the producers are searching for talented local performers to form the cast for this wonderful show. The production is in partnership with The West End Stage Experience - a unique performance experience and training scheme enabling talented local performers to appear in large-scale productions working alongside professional performers and creatives. The auditions will take place in Dubai on 15 and 16 January 2016.
About the Show
Considered by many to be the best-loved and most successful movie musical in history, The Sound of Music was the winner of five Oscars, including the award for Best Picture. Its soundtrack stands in history as the best selling musical of all time going Platinum more than 12 times. Its landmark score includes some of the most beloved songs in the American songbook including “My Favourite Things". "Edelweiss", "Climb Ev’ry Mountain", "Do Re Mi", "The Lonely Goatherd", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the wonderful title song.
Based on a true and moving story, The Sound Of Music recalls the touching and dramatic memories of Maria and the Von Trapp family, united through their love of music and their struggle to freedom as their beautiful homeland of Austria faces Nazi occupation, just prior to the Second World War.
A smash hit in multiple countries and winner of the TIMEOUT DUBAI NIGHTLIFE AWARD for Best Theatrical Production, The Sound Of Music will feature lavish costumes, a sumptuous set and will star a wonderful West End and UAE cast and orchestra. The production will be live on stage at the very popular Madinat Theatre, Madinat Jumeirah, the perfect setting for one of the greatest musicals of all time. Performances will run 31 March – 16 April 2016.
About the auditions
The producers are searching for singers and actors to be a part of this fantastic experience and appear alongside West End performers in this smash hit production. For six fun and busy weeks, the cast rehearses and performs the show under the supervision of the professional creative team and develops skills in acting, dancing and singing as well as gaining excellent and valuable experience in professional theatre. The auditions are free to attend and open to anyone aged 7 - 60 who has the energy and desire to commit to this fun, but serious performance experience. There is a training fee applicable for the successful auditionees, which covers license costs, three weeks of rehearsals and the three weeks in the theatre for performances.
