Leading Gulf talent to shine at Middle East Studies Association Film Festival

15 Gulf films to be showcased to international audience through the Gulf Film Festival's sustained patronage

Dubai, October 3, 2013 – The Middle East Studies Association (MESA) will feature 15 productions from the Gulf at this year's MESA Film Festival, scheduled to run from October 10 – 13, 2013, enabling filmmakers from the region to broaden their international reach. 

Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Director, Gulf Film Festival, said: “Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of hosting many of the 15 films set to be showcased at The Middle East Studies Association Film Festival at the Gulf Film Festival. They truly represent the region's evolving pool of fresh talent, spirited creativity and passion for cinema that is critical to the future success and growth of the industry. MESA's four-day festival is an excellent gateway to a global audience, recognition and acknowledgment for these gifted aspiring filmmakers.”

This year's MESA film festival will showcase more than double the number of films that were screened last year. The 15 films are produced by promising and exceptional talents from different parts of the region, including submissions from the UAE, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The 15 short films expected to be screened in October are 'Dinosaur' by Meqdad Al-Kout , 'Ka'bool' by Musaed Al-Mutairi ,'Crossing' by Maitham Al-Muwawi,  'Al-Muqana'' by Tarek Abu-Esber, 'Scrap” by Bader Al-Homoud, 'Back Seat” by Hind Al-Fahhad, “Murk Light” by Yasir Al-Yasiri 'Souvenirs from Candyland” by Amani Al-Owais, “Living in Limbo' by Haneen Al-Hammadi and Fatima Abdulrahim, 'Moments' by Ebrahim Al-Rasbi, 'Half Emirati” by Amal Al-Agroobi , 'Guilt” by Abdul Rahman Al-MadaniE, 'The Gamboo'a Revolution' by Abdul Rahman Al-Madani, 'Collecting My Passion” by Mariam Shehab Khanji and Meera Abdulla Al-Mutawa, and “Sura' by Sawsan Al-Areeqee.
