'We may have lost our first game, but we certainly had a lot of fun. I usually play singles and have just only discovered the fun in playing doubles. I really enjoy this social competitive environment and I look forward to the next game,' said Reika Malakouti from Tennis 363. At Madinat Jumeirah, the ladies from Clark Francis proved too strong for their PBI-Madinat Jumeirah opponents, with the pairing of Nichola Williams and Pam Weisson beating Stephanie Danial and Caroline Rossi 6-2, 6-2, while Zoe and Becky Foster defeated Roth Tram-Anh and Theresa Starta 6-1, 6-1. Actively involved in the Dubai tennis scene for over 7 years, Gwen Sproule, owner and Business Development Director for Tennis 360, knows that the development of tennis in the UAE isn't just down to one person or one club. “There are plenty of tennis academies and clubs in Dubai, with each one organising their own activities. We must strive for a collaborative environment and work together towards the common goal of promoting tennis to all ages and abilities in the UAE,” said Gwen. The championship finals for the Inter-Clubs Ladies Doubles League will be held on Tuesday, Dec 17 at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and will feature an exhibition Pro Doubles match, buffet lunch and awards ceremony.
