UAE, 24 April, 2017 - The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) will host a workshop titled ‘The first National Forum for Safety & Occupational Health' from April 25 to 27, 2017 at the Le Meridien - Dubai Airport Hotel. The event is being organized in cooperation with the Arab Labour Organization (ALO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the International Labour Organization (ILO) in coordination with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. It will coincide with International Occupational Health & Safety Day celebrations and will be attended by various institutions and stakeholders.
The workshop will highlight the importance of documenting workplace accidents, injuries and occupational diseases; the relationship between reporting these accidents and prevention strategies; and the development of a national system for documenting accidents and occupational diseases. These will contribute towards establishing a national system for managing occupational health and safety based on the highest international standards. The initiative will enhance the smart inspection system in addition to other systems and programs linked to the UAE's e-Government.
The upcoming informative session aims to enhance the abilities of the UAE Government as represented by MOHAP, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and other concerned institutions to implement a modern system for reporting, documenting, analysing and preparing periodical reports on occupational accidents, injuries and diseases on a national level. The system will also open new channels of communication between the concerned entities to promote the physical and mental health of employees to ensure their happiness
