RAK Hospital organises clinical assessment, wellness assessment and counselling, physical fitness test and eye screening for the whole month

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, June 26, 2016:   Appreciating the need to take stock of health during Ramadan, RAK Hospital has initiated a comprehensive complimentary health service for the people of Ras Al Khaimah and other northern emirates. The Ramadan clinic, scheduled from 8pm to 11pm daily at RAK Hospital premises, offers comprehensive clinical assessment, wellness assessment and counselling, physical fitness assessment and eye screening. The initiative, which will run through the entire length of Ramadan, has been a great success with the public at large and proved beneficial for a number of people.

“Fasting during long summer days in particular takes its toll, and it's important that we take good care of our health to avoid falling sick,” said Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO Arabian Healthcare Group and Executive Director of RAK Hospital, “In general also, people simply tend to neglect their health and need a wakeup call – such as this clinic – to realise the state of their well-being. The intensive assessments provide people with a thorough knowledge of basic healthcare that will help them avoid bigger issues including weak eyesight.”

Recent studies have proved that UAE residents are facing many health crisis. As per recent report by World Health organisation, 70 percent of men and 67 percent of women who are 15 years and older are obese. Moreover, experts predict that around one-third of the male population will suffer from some heart problem. Fingers are often pointed at sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical fitness.

“This is what we are counselling at the clinic: assess your current physical health and work towards an improved, healthier and physically fit lifestyle. Moreover, those who are fasting are being briefed on the right foods that one needs to consume to build energy during the day,” added Dr Raza Siddiqui.

RAK Hospital has been a forerunner as a caregiver and has frequently organised complimentary health check-ups for the masses. The hospital is currently running a year-long free screening programme for diabetes and also conducts awareness campaigns for various health issues.
