The Role About the Role: We are recruiting for a Principal Propulsion and Energy Engineer to join a next generation aerospace programme based in Dubai. This is a senior technical role within a founding engineering team, with responsibility for developing the electric propulsion and energy system from initial architecture through detailed design, qualification and aircraft certification. Working directly with the Chief Engineer, Propulsion and Energy, you will develop the propulsion architecture into a certifiable and production ready system, covering electric motors, inverters, battery architecture, Battery Management Systems, thermal management and high voltage systems. Key Responsibilities Develop electric propulsion and energy systems from architecture through detailed design and qualification. Lead motor and inverter trade studies, selection and technical integration. Develop battery pack architecture covering cell, module and pack level integration. Define and baseline Battery Management System requirements. Develop thermal management solutions suitable for sustained hot climate aircraft operation. Define high voltage architecture, fault detection, isolation and safe mode behaviour. Establish the DO-311A battery qualification strategy and supporting certification evidence. Translate system requirements into robust technical specifications for suppliers. Define and manage interfaces between propulsion, energy, electrical and aircraft systems. Work closely with Safety, Certification, Electrical and wider Engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle. Support propulsion and battery system activities through PDR and subsequent programme milestones. Ensure engineering decisions and designs are developed with qualification, safety and certification requirements in mind from the outset.
Requirements We are looking for an experienced electric propulsion and energy systems engineer with significant hands on experience developing battery and propulsion systems for safety critical aerospace programmes. Essential Requirements 12+ years experience in electric propulsion, hybrid electric aircraft or closely related safety critical systems. Proven responsibility for propulsion or battery system development on a safety critical programme. Practitioner level expertise in battery pack, module and cell integration. Strong Battery Management System experience, including SOC, SOH, cell balancing, fault detection and safe mode behaviour. Experience with electric motors, inverters and motor drives. Strong knowledge of high voltage systems and fault isolation. Experience developing battery thermal management and thermal runaway containment solutions. Knowledge of DO-311A or equivalent battery qualification standards. Experience translating engineering requirements into supplier specifications and technical acceptance criteria. Strong multidisciplinary systems integration and technical stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
