Dubai-UAE: 22 June, 2015 – Ramadan is the Holy Month where Muslims fast during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset and is a month of spiritual, physical and mental cleansing. Medeor 24x7 Hospital, Dubai brings you the Medeor Ramadan Health Majlis to keep a watch on your health while you fast. The concept of a Ramadan Majlis in the UAE is not new, with tents a common sight across the country. But for the first time in UAE, a Health Majlis is being done by a Hospital.
“The Prophet (PBUH) said, “When the month of Ramadan arrives, the doors of mercy are opened”. This is reflected in the culture and traditions of the UAE. The Medeor Ramadan Health Majlis aims to enhance the healthy living habits of people. Keeping in line with these customs in the spirit of Ramadan, we decided to contribute to the community through a health Majlis. Most people will not avail of these simple check-ups which can help detect a more serious health problem due to financial constraints and lack of time. We hope through the Health Majlis people will focus on improving their health,” said Dr. Shajir Gaffar, CEO of VPS Healthcare for Dubai and the Northern Emirates. “If practiced properly, fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan can have many health benefits. The Health Majlis seeks to promote these benefits which include fasting allows our digestive system to rest and detoxifies the body while promoting greater mental clarity. It also leads to increased energy levels and the heightened spirituality during the Holy Month results in tranquility of the heart and mind.”
Located at the front of the Medeor 24x7 Hospital, Dubai, the Ramadan Health Majlis is operational from 19th of June till the end of Ramadan from 10am to 10pm. The tent is fully equipped with all amenities and the community and visitors can enjoy consultations with a General Practitioner, Specialists, Dietician and Physiotherapist free of charge. Counters are available for people to do a primary check-up including blood pressure, blood sugar levels and BMI. Specialist doctors will also be on hand to answer any queries and concerns a person may have. Qur’an reading competitions for kids and adults will be conducted in the Majlis and to entertain our little guests the Majlis has organized painting competitions which will keep them engaged while the parents consult the doctor and avail free checkups.
