Children at the Nursery learn practical lessons on generosity and kindness
BON Foundation continues to spread happiness among the needy
Dubai, UAE, June 28, 2016: Inspired by the wave of charity and generosity that is the hallmark of the month of Ramadan, the young students at British Orchard Nursery took in their little hands to help those not so fortunate. Children aged three to five collected packed food, water and juices and deposited it at one of the refrigerators that have sprung up in many areas in Dubai to address the needs of the poor. The tiny tots even managed to bring smiles on the faces of a few labourers working nearby to whom they gave some food and water to beat the sweltering heat.
“There is more to school than academic learning, and at British Orchard Nursery, we stress on the total development of each child whether it’s moral, intellectual, social, emotional or physical,” said Vandana Gandhi, Founder and CEO of British Orchard Nursery, “We like to inculcate a sense of responsibility in our students so that they’re aware of the struggles of others. And it was heartening to note that children were so happy to work for a charitable cause.”
She added: “I’d also like to sincerely thank Sumayyah Sayed, the woman behind the Sharing Fridge community campaign for coming up with such a unique initiative and I know that many more people will join hands to take the initiative forward”.
British Orchard Nursery also supports orphanages, old age homes, animal shelters and charitable causes towards the needy through donating a percentage of its revenue to the BON Foundation. The Nursery’s employees also give back to the community by volunteering their time, participating in events such as the Walk for Education and Walk for Autism, among other initiatives.
