Sally Hansen: Summer Nail Trend by Madeline Poole: Tiny Floral

I’m thrilled to share the nail looks inspired by the runways and trends of Summer 2016. The looks are inspired by cuts of clothing like the open shoulder design, hardware & piping, and pattern & color. I had a thorough look at the trends in nails, makeup, hair, and fashion for the season and chose the most evident and inspiring trends. Inside you’ll find a variety of color palettes and designs – something for everyone to enjoy!

Tiny floral
The tiniest florals were patched together in panels. Floral patterns mimic Liberty’s repeat miniature multicolored floral fabrics. Bottega Venetta  and  Coach both paneled in a variety of different colorways. The flowers are so small they almost appear as a texture from afar - an interesting concept for nails because the pattern is so detailed and textural it’s easier to recreate with paint.

Rather than painstakingly painting flowers you'll actually just dab colors on haphazardly with the brush. The key is in the colors coverage and overall random placement. I recommend trying a pattern like this or anything organic for beginner nail artist as I find the process much less difficult and more expressive. To make a repeat pattern appear legit make sure to continue painting all the way to the edge of the nail and cuticle. If paint spills over the edge you can clean it up with a angled brush dipped in nail polish remover.

Pastels

A dark background like Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “Night Watch”#674 gives the pastel colors a canvas to POP off of. Contrast and opacity is key when choosing colors for a nail art look. There’s no need for a detail brush with this look simply use the brush in bottle to dab colors on organically.
