The Role Job Title: Junior Quantity Surveyor Department: Commercial / Cost Control Project Type: Civil Construction Projects Location: Project Site / Office Reports To: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager Job Summary The Junior Quantity Surveyor assists in managing project costs and contractual matters for civil construction projects. The role involves supporting the commercial team in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, preparation of bills, subcontractor evaluation, and monitoring project expenditures to ensure projects are delivered within the approved budget. Key Responsibilities Assist in quantity take-offs and measurement of works from drawings and site progress. Support in preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates. Assist in preparation of interim payment applications and follow up on client certifications. Maintain records of site measurements, variations, and change orders. Assist in preparing subcontractor payment certificates and verifying invoices. Support the commercial team in contract administration and documentation. Monitor project costs, materials usage, and labor costs against budget. Prepare cost reports and project progress reports for management review. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and site teams for quantity verification and work progress. Assist in preparation of variation claims and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with contract terms, company procedures, and project specifications.
Requirements Qualifications Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management. Experience 25 years of experience in quantity surveying within civil construction or infrastructure projects. Experience in BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, and contract documentation is preferred. Skills & Competencies Good knowledge of construction drawings and specifications. Familiarity with measurement standards and cost control procedures. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and AutoCAD (preferred). Knowledge of contract conditions such as FIDIC is an advantage. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Good communication and coordination abilities. Preferred Experience Experience in large civil construction projects will be an added advantage.
