Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai's maritime sector, has recorded a wide turnout for its maritime licensing services. The services, which offer a well-defined organizational framework to maintain integration among all the aspects related to maritime safety, secure navigation and operational efficiency across Dubai's coasts, has resulted in the registration of 440 vessels since beginning of 2015.

The tremendous response to marine licensing services has urged DMCA to continue to offer new facilities to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction. The new service ‘Exam in Your Office', launched recently to enable people to get their marine driving licenses easily and quickly, complements the overwhelming progress in the marine licensing service industry. It is also a reflection of the Authority's commitment to offer necessary means to support Dubai's transformation into one of the highly advanced maritime centres of the world.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “DMCA made remarkable achievements in terms of expanding the scope of maritime licensing services. All this was facilitated by the unparalleled support of the UAE's wise leadership and the fruitful cooperation with our industry-related strategic partners from the public and private sectors, with whom we share common visions to promote Dubai as a first-class international maritime hub.”

Ali added: “We look forward to continue the DMCA's march of success and accomplishments, following an integrated strategy to raise the bar on maritime cluster components and upgrade the industry's infrastructure, operations and logistics. While doing so, we will also offer diversified investment opportunities to boost Dubai's regional and international maritime competitiveness and create a conducive maritime environment to attract leading investors from the region and worldwide.”

For his part, Adel Kalantar, Director - Registration and Licensing, DMCA, said: “The marine licensing mechanisms are gaining confidence of the maritime community and water sports enthusiasts. This is reflected in the growing number of registered marine vessels and DMCA-certified marine craft driving licenses. The Authority continues its efforts to launch leading initiatives aimed at enhancing customer experience and develop advanced regulations and legislations to ensure compliance with the highest standards of maritime safety and environmental best practices while also adhering to the local and international decisions on management of maritime operations.”

DMCA will be offering its maritime registration services and driving licensing services for marine crafts and other various services during its participation at this year's Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), the largest, most important and most established event of its kind in the region and one of the fastest growing leisure marine industry exhibitions in the world, which will be held from March 3 to March 7, 2015. The services will be showcased at DMCA's expanded stand located at S-01 in the main hall of the exhibition.

DMCA will show all the developments related to speed limits and beach break areas and best practices for the use of various marine crafts along the emirate's coastline. The Authority will also be distributing English and Arabic versions of the ‘Dubai Powerboat Handbook.' The Arabic version is the first and only version in the world to be offered in this language and covers the use of boats with engines. Both versions will be distributed free-of-charge at the event.
