De Vecchi Milano 1935 combines tradition and innovation to decorate your Christmas

This year De Vecchi Milano 1935 combines tradition and innovation to decorate your Christmas.

What is offered are some decorations that reinterpret the De Vecchi icons, such as Phoemina and Diana,
in thin and elegant objects.

Five different drawings, available in sterling silver and silver plating, are the perfect present to elegantly adorn the house or the Christmas tree.0

LA MAGNIFICA FORMA _ Luca Scacchetti
'LA MAGNIFICA FORMA' was back in Milan during HOMI (RHO 13-16 of September 2014). That is an exhibition of 'special objects', inspired by famous artworks, designed by famous designers and manufactured by the most important Italian companies. This exhibition is made to confirm the importance of the artistic craftsmanship, as the engine of the rebirth of the Italian cultural heritage.

During the first edition in January, the exhibition presented creations dedicated to the pieces of art displayed in the most famous museums of Milan.
The last edition in September concerned the theme of the table and its setting, and the inspiring element was the 'historical banquet' of the Roman, Medieval and Renaissance period.

HOMI, always careful to new trends, recognizes the strategic role of Design and of the Made in Italy, that are able to integrate contemporaneity and tradition, as a market with numerous applications.

At the event, the architect Luca Scacchetti, in collaboration with De Vecchi Milano 1935, presented three silver plated vases, that counterpose the typical design of 'classical-roman' vases - characterized by embossed, relief and sculpted work - to modern, clean and flat lines.

The Architecture Studio Scacchetti works in different fields such as architecture, urban design, and product design. The activity of the studio goes from urban plans to numerous buildings either private or public, in Italy and abroad. Its tasks are also about interior design, product design, furniture design, light design, industrial design, in collaboration with a lot of important Italian and international companies.

LINEA 273 BY 4P1B DESIGN STUDIO
Vases made of DeVecchi silver plated whose shape was created thanks to the expansion of water within them: when water reaches a temperature of 273 k, the 0° centigrade according to the Kelvin scale, it solidifies, increases in volume and emits an energy that creates aesthetic unthinkable elaborations. Each piece in the collection is unique, its shape cannot be planned, even though it comes from the same object and following the same process.

4P1B DESIGN STUDIO
Born in 2008, based in Milan, 4P1B work in the world of design with the belief that everything is design. For this reason, his work ranges from the world of furniture to lighting, from setting-up to retail. Therefore 4P1B works in different environments by developing solutions for mass products but also items devoted to experiments in small limited editions. At the heart of the work of 4P1B is the design method and the constant search for formal solutions formal which are at the same time functional, commercial and innovative.

ORIONE and SENSI _ 4P1B DESIGN STUDIO
The challenge of this project was to create dialogue between two materials, the silver of De Vecchi and aluminium, which have features in common but speak different languages. Therefore we had at our disposal on the one hand silver - precious, malleable, extremely smooth - that produces accurate reflections as a mirror, while on the other aluminium, light but rigid, characterized in these project by a very rich surface finish, almost rippled, which creates a multitude of small reflections of light. We have created simple lines by using the materials for their physical characteristics but also by making them talk to find a balance made of rich surfaces, enhanced by pauses and interruptions. Objects born from this project can be divided into two large families.

The first consists of products designed to prepare and serve the food, whose shapes take over the tradition but where the decorative elements are replaced by aluminium with a special finish. Three types of objects for three different functions: to carry, to hold and to preserve. The second group is made up of autonomous elements which together refer to the world of self-care and wellness. A small container, a table mirror and a fragrance diffuser, featured by a lightweight and poetic design where the silver and the aluminium allow to get unexpected reflections and lighting effects.

SANTAMBROGIO _ ANDREA BRANZI
“Historically silver has had a firmly established image. The Santambrogio collection, produced in a numbered limited series, seeks to rejuvenate its shapes and lightness by combining the preciousness of silver with the transparence of plexiglass”
Andrea Branzi

'Apparently the collection of silver pieces designed by Andrea Branzi and made by De Vecchi does not follow unforeseen, exhilarating paths, is not searching for 'new' shapes, nor are production techniques called upon to find 'new' ways to follow post-2000 design. What makes it interesting is the proposition applied by Branzi: the eternal condition of 'things', where 'things' does not mean narrating simply about objects of use, which these items actually are, but about elements - whether they are fragments of nature, theoretical places or meditative scenes - which convey thoughts and produce a tangible dignity. In this search for the eternal condition of things we must acknowledge a certain courage in design, which like the Nouvelle Vague brings out the 'splendour of reality' through the elimination of the artificial. This in addition to the shared view of the world of design as a dialectically humanist sphere, which Dilmos has been able to cultivate in his long, happy activity.

These silver objects (vases, bowls, bases) are not a search for performance in craftsmanship, where De Vecchi holds the record (consider the work of Gabriele De Vecchi) but, like immobile monoliths of light, are 'indifferent to the fragmentation of the world and knowledge, they are like macromolecules endowed with their own profound nucleus' (AB). They float moon-like, supported on plexiglass bases, which make them 'less ecclesiastical and more pagan', applying the restraint and gentleness typical of the man to whom the collection is dedicated. A Milanese family, then, distinguished by the partnership between two Milanese entities - Dilmos and De Vecchi - whose historical-cultural roots are far apart but which at the same time are indispensable for design culture.'
