UAE, November 20, 2014 - Gulf Extrusions (Gulfex), a leading global manufacturer of extruded aluminum products, has been named as one of the winners of this year's prestigious Gaia Awards, the construction and building materials industry's most respected awards honoring innovative construction products and equipment that have truly integrated the concept of moving toward a more sustainably built environment. The award was given in recognition of the company's line of X-ECO aluminum alloys, which are products made from recycled aluminum that have resulted in a 60 to 80 per cent reduction of Co2 compared to the exploitation of primary aluminum. Modar Al Mekdad, General Manager, Gulfex, accepted the award during the awarding ceremonies, which was held during the company's participation in the Big 5.
Held annually on the sidelines of The Big 5 International Building and Construction Show, the Gaia Awards honors companies in the construction sector who have made key contributions in the move to drive in a reduction of construction industry's impact on the environment. The Gaia Awards aim to promote a company's responsibility to the environment by recognizing their achievements and providing a strategic platform to showcase 'green' products and future developments of the construction and building materials segments.
