Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre kicks off 2019 with an event-packed calendar
  • First ‘Breakfast with EMAC' seminar on 21st January
  • EMAC as Silver Sponsor at ‘The Fourth Annual Middle East Bunkering Convention'

Dubai, UAE, 27 January, 2019:   Gearing up for 2019, EMAC's first Breakfast session is back discussing Ship Sale and Purchase (S&P) on 21st January at its DIFC offices.

Presented by Alessandro Tricoli,  Partner and Head of Shipping at Fichte & Co Legal, the seminar will provide insights around the specific contract types and negotiation pitfalls. S&P is one of the most important agreements in the shipping industry. Given its complexity, it requires in-depth knowledge of the ship and its function, legal knowledge, as well as dealing and bargaining skills.

“As we enter our fourth year of operation, we will continue to carry out our main message and objective that we are here to support the industry. As part of our ongoing commitment to the sector, throughout 2019, we will be present at all key industry events, regionally and internationally, and facilitate important discussions by bringing the maritime and legal fraternity together”, said Mr. Majid Obaid bin Bashir, Acting Chairman and Secretary General, EMAC.

Following the ‘Breakfast with EMAC' seminar, the busy schedule continued, by the Centre being present as a silver sponsor at the Fourth Annual Middle East Bunkering Convention that took place between 23 – 24 January at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Marina. The forum provided a platform for informed, independent discussions about the key challenges facing the marine fuels sector in the region, as well as facilitated rugged debates on global bunkering, shipping and trade issues among regional and international experts. As part of the event, Edward Newitt, Board of Trustees member at EMAC delivered a presentation on ‘The role of arbitration in dispute resolution – a post 2020 scenario'.

EMAC will continue the discussions throughout 2019, with the next breakfast seminar to be held on 18th February.
