Under the theme of “Abu Dhabi's Journey: Towards Digital Transformation”

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed visits the Abu Dhabi Pavilion

Dubai, UAE, October 17, 2016:  Abu Dhabi e-Government, through the participation of 21 government entities, officially opened its pavilion at GITEX Technology Week 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) today. H.H Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed Al Maktoum visited the Abu Dhabi pavilion on its opening day. In addition, Sheikha Azza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation visited the Abu Dhabi pavilion at GITEX.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the Abu Dhabi e-Government's fifth consecutive participation at GITEX coincides with its tenth anniversary, as it celebrates a decade of various stages of digital growth and prosperity.

The e-Government is currently highlighting the notable year-on-year growth of its digital solutions as it showcases its latest innovations, systems, apps and websites that assist in solidifying Abu Dhabi's status as a regional hub for business and digital transformation investment, while strengthening cooperation and integration between Government entities in the UAE's capital. 

Commenting on the opening, H.E Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General at ADSIC said, “We are very proud of the Abi Dhabi e-Government's participation at GITEX for the fifth consecutive year, as we consider our presence in this prestigious international event a direct reflection of all our efforts and achievements, that have aimed at enriching the local information technology and communications sector.”

Al Mansoori added, “Government entities in Abu Dhabi share a common strategic goal which is to enhance the quality of government services and provide greater accessibility to such services, by utilizing the dynamic value and components of technology which serve as a key driver for comprehensive economic and social development, an area which Abu Dhabi has been witnessing across all fields, under its wise leadership.”

“The concept of Government integration in Abu Dhabi has become the modus operandi of all legislative, planning and executive efforts carried out by Government entities and a supporting factor for innovation. We renew our commitment to become distinguished in all our operations and continue to search for new and improved methods to serve the local community and the national goals outlined in the Abu Dhabi Plan and the UAE on a federal level.”

Al Mansoori went on to thank all of ADSIC's government partners for their unrelenting efforts in the domain of digital transformation.

Al Mansoori concluded, “Visitors to the Abu Dhabi pavilion at GITEX 2016 will be able to gain in depth insights and information on what we have collectively accomplished in the last ten years. This includes digital infrastructure, e-connectivity, launching of e-services, in addition to policies, regulations and supervision efforts, which have been put in place to enhance the smart experience and serve the needs of end-users and the individual requirements of each Government entity operating in Abu Dhabi.”

Captain Mohamed Juma Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, commented: “Digital transformation is at the top of our agenda. It comes in line with the vision of our wise leadership that aims to position Abu Dhabi as a centre of excellence in trade that has all the foundations to build a sustainable and diversified economy. Our participation at GITEX to highlight our latest digital services with the wider ports community is an extension to our continuous efforts of offering our customers and stakeholders smart solutions that provide easy access to information and enhanced efficiency.”

H.E Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of SCAD commended the Centre's regular participation in this international event with other entities under Abu Dhabi's e-Government Stand as an opportunity to educate users and the general public about the Centre's transformation to digital methods and services in its endeavor to achieve its ambitious vision for “Leadership and Innovation” by catering to the needs of various categories of data users, in line with the strategic goals of the Abu Dhabi Plan.

Equipped with state-of-the-art software, interactive areas and other modern technologies, the 1620-square meter pavilion of Abu Dhabi's e-Government at GITEX 2016 is currently attracting a \ range of local, regional and international delegations and visitors who are keen on exploring Abu Dhabi's innovative and diverse digital services. 

Abu Dhabi government entities participating in GITEX 2016 are the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund; Family Development Foundation (FDF); Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport(DMA); Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA); Department of Economic Development (DED); Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC); Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD); Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD); Tadweer (Center for Waste Management - Abu Dhabi); Abu Dhabi Judicial Department; Abu Dhabi Police GHQ; Department of Finance (DOF); Abu Dhabi Ports Company; Abu Dhabi Media Company; Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA); Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX); Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center; Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC); Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) along with the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC).
