‘Measure, Save, Connect' Approach Transforms Traditional Building Management Systems (BMS) and Practices
Dubai – UAE: 14 May, 2015 – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, recently unveiled its range of Smart Panels or ‘digitized electrical switchboards' in a move to provide building owners with a greater degree of control and responsibility in conveniently monitoring and managing energy use.
The Smart Panel is a plug and play solution that offers long-term energy and financial savings. Meeting regulatory and green building benchmarks these panels are intelligently embedded with metering, control, and communication capabilities.
Energy efficiency solutions have become a decisive differentiation factor in building asset valuation, as they ensure higher HSE standards, compliance with local building codes, reduced operating and maintenance costs and strategic energy saving measures.
Enrique Pastor, Vice President – Partner & Industry Business Unit, Schneider Electric, said: “Given the fact that the world today is on the brink of an energy challenge, we need to take personal responsibility to utilise energy resources more vigilantly. Thanks to the latest advances in technology, we now have the power to affect this change. Schneider Electric's Smart Panels offer an ideal solution to reducing the long-term carbon footprint in an eco-friendly manner. With the government currently focused on attaining urban efficiency through Smart Cities, products like Smart Panels are a crucial element to enhancing the quality of living spaces and commercial units.”
Smart Panels offer value in three key stages:
- In the ‘measure' stage, the system automates energy consumption metering, and simplifies daily operations while eliminating the errors resulting from manual data accumulation.
- In the second or ‘connect' stage, Smart Panels use simple displays, and Ethernet and Modbus interfaces on the communication system enabling data access locally as well as remotely over cloud.
- The third stage called ‘save' assists building owners, facility managers or residents to undertake effective energy analyses. Onsite real-time monitoring and control (on touch-screen displays connected to the Ethernet or on a computer display with IE browser), provide a detailed breakdown of the building's energy consumption by zone and usage type. Building owners and facility managers can then undertake appropriate measures for best use of energy resources without affecting the comfort or impacting the productivity of occupants.
Smart Panels will be launched across the Gulf countries between April and June 2015, through Schneider Electric's network of channel partners and distributors.
