Abu Dhabi-UAE: 26 April, 2015 – Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is set to host the ‘Emirates Skills' national competition, an annual platform for showcasing young Emirati talent in technical and vocational disciplines to a panel of experts, from 28 to 30 April, 2015.

Held under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), Emirates Skills 2015 will witness 528 competitors challenging their peers in 40 competitions across 30 skill categories including aircraft maintenance, mobile robotics, electrical installations, and graphic design technology, among others. The event will feature 40 judging panels, 200 volunteers as well as 200 experts and workshop masters.

Additionally, the event will seek to create new opportunities for young Emiratis to develop their skills in applied technology disciplines and mentor them to be an active part of the industrial and technological growth of the UAE in line with the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and the UAE Vision 2021.

The empowerment of the Emirati workforce to enable their contribution to the development and future growth of the UAE is a top priority for ADNEC. Towards achieving this goal, ADNEC is committed to creating opportunities for young nationals through supporting events like Emirates Skills, and fostering an environment where our youth can develop their capabilities and talent to their fullest potential.

Since its inception in 2006, EmiratesSkills has inspired young UAE nationals to embrace new skills and build a career in technical and vocational trades through introducing them to new educational and training opportunities and mentoring them to become the best in their chosen disciplines.

ADNEC is also set to host the 44th WorldSkills Competition, the biggest international vocational skills competition globally in 2017. The event is anticipated to convene over 200,000 visitors, including 1,500 competitors from 72 member countries to share know-how in 46 skill categories.

ADNEC offers 133,000 sq m of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.6 million people across 327 events in 2014.
