Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 23 March , 2015: Noor Dubai Foundation, a Dubai-based NGO that specializes in global blindness prevention, treatment and education held today a brainstorming session with esteemed panelists to discuss the way forward for the organization in its fight against preventable blindness and to formulate a five year Noor Dubai 2015-2020 strategy.

His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Chairman of Noor Dubai Foundation, said: “Since its inception in 2008, Noor Dubai has reached out to over 23 million people primarily in Asia and Africa by conducting eye-saving surgeries, providing medication, glasses and has also conducted educational programs. We are now keen to continue our blindness prevention efforts globally and will formulate a five year policy after taking into consideration the most urgent needs of the global community in the fight towards blindness prevention.”

Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai said: “ We want to move ahead in the most meaningful manner possible, by continuing to forge collaborations with national and international organizations that are also working to eliminate preventable blindness, we want our strategy to address and find ways to tackle the most pressing issues for preventable blindness  and therefore we held a brainstorming session with such esteemed key note speakers and panelists who are experts in their field.”

Noor Dubai and the Carter Centre have signed an MoU in 2013, under which the two organisations entered into a three-year partnership to eliminate to eliminate Trachoma( a condition which leads to blindness) in Ethiopia.

“We are extremely thankful to our key note speakers and our panelists for taking the time out and participate in the brainstorming sessions,” said Taryam.  “The sessions were divided into four categories. The first category discussed international programs and ways to collaborate in future, the second category discussed national programs, ways to collaborate, exchange-of-information/expertise and ways to raise awareness about preventable blindness. The third session discussed investment and financial affairs and the importance of implementing an innovative approach in fundraising to ensure sustainability of sufficient funds for the Foundation's projects and initiatives and the fourth session discussed the role of media and various means of communication in supporting charitable work and in delivering the Foundation's key messages to the world with an aim to support and help those in need of our services.”

Taryam added that the conclusions and results of the brainstorming session will help the Foundation chalk out the Noor Dubai Foundation 2015-2020 strategy which will be announced by October 2015, to coincide with the five-year anniversary of the Foundation.
