Cutting-Edge Crafts and high-tech marine equipment draw buyers and enthusiasts at 2015 Dubai International Boat Show

Innovative marine crafts and latest technologies feature prominently at the region's leading leisure marine event

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The 23rd edition of the Dubai International Boat Show is showcasing some of the most high-tech gadgets, cutting-edge crafts and innovations in leisure marine, as day two draws buyers and enthusiasts throughout the region to Middle East's leading industry event.

The region's first glimpse of Dominator's virtual reality experience is at the show this year. Following its world premiere in Dusseldorf, the experience allows Dominator's customers to immerse themselves in their Ilumen yacht before it's even built, using a carbon fibre pod made of the same material, a touch-sensitive pad, a joystick, and a virtual reality headset which goes through all aspects of the interior and the exterior of the yacht.

Deep Trekker has also brought its mini, remotely-operated underwater vehicle (ROV) to tech-savvy marine leisure enthusiasts. The ROV provides an opportunity to explore the depths of the world's vast oceans, seas, lakes and rivers as part of accessible sub-sea exploration. The ROVs come in four different configurations with various camera, lighting, and controller options, as well as a turbo thruster and 2-function grabber arm.

UAE based company ASIS Boats - one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of rigid inflatable boats, for leisure, commercial and military customers - has launched its ‘Outboard Amphibious Boat' at the show. Roy Nouhra, Founder and President of ASIS Boats said: “This boat truly opens up the world of water for boat owners.  Not only does the design of its solid shaped hull with flexible tubes at the gunwale mean that this craft can access shallow water with ease, but the ability to drive the boat from the beach or land directly into the water without a slipway or marina jetty means this craft can be enjoyed anywhere.”

One of the most exciting marine leisure crafts on display is the Seabreacher, a dramatic breakthrough in recreational boating which operates above and beyond the conventional two-dimensional plane. The Seabreacher functions more like an aircraft, with the full three axis of control – pitch, roll and yaw – which allows it to carve left and right, jump over, dive under and cut through the waves, with the latest model capable of a 360 degree barrel roll on the water.

The brand new 2015 Can-Am Maverick X DS – a side-by-side utility task vehicle (UTV) – was on display for the first time in the region at the show. The 121 HP, 1000cc UTV comes with the world's first ever factory-installed turbocharger, and features Maxis BigHorn tires, aluminium beadlock wheels and an anti-theft system.

The Iguana 29 Exclusive, launched for the first time at the 2015 Dubai International Boat Show, has hidden technologies that have no need for a berth or a trailer. A revolutionary, state-of-the-art design offers remarkable marine performances as well as terrestrial capabilities. An onshore drive system – controlled using a smart command – deploys in seconds or folds away into boat's sides, allowing for the boat's sleek design to be maintained. With impeccable interior design, from an exclusively designed table, to fine crystal glasses worth USD800 each to a leather-covered wheel and control, the upmarket vessel can reach up to 8km/h on land and up to 35 knots on water.

“The region's residents are incredibly tech-savvy, and demand the same level of innovation and technology in their business and leisure activities. We continue to see high levels of innovative tech products deployed across all sectors, and the leisure marine sector is certainly part of this growth. The Dubai International Boat Show provides the right platform for these technologies to be showcased to a growing number of people who are part of the marine lifestyle,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of the show.

The 2015 Dubai International Boat Show, taking place at the Dubai International Marine Club - Mina Seyahi, runs from 3 - 7 March, and is open to trade visitors and the general public from 3pm - 9:30pm daily.
