Abu Dhabi, January 15, 2015 – The government of Egypt announced that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will attend World Future Energy Summit (WFES), part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week –the emirate's annual platform to address the interconnected challenges of energy and water security, climate risk and sustainable development. This will mark his first official visit to the UAE as president.

The attendance of President El-Sisi highlights the close ties between Egypt and UAE, across a wide range of sectors. The Egyptian government noted in its announcement that WFES is one of the most significant gatherings for developing new strategies and approaches to expand the use of renewable energy. The announcement also mentioned that president El-Sisi shares the same vision with the UAE regarding the role of energy as the main enabler for development. He also stressed the importance of diversifying the energy mix to increase the share of renewables and ensure energy security.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, January 17-24, is hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company. The week-long platform is a series of events, including: the fifth assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency, the eighth World Future Energy Summit, the third International Water Summit, the second EcoWASTE exhibition and the seventh Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony.
