DUBAI, UAE, 17th December, 2014 ─ Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) today announced it is a certified Mirantis Technology Partner. This partnership will provide cloud service providers with a new turnkey, OpenStack-based, on-demand data center solution. As a result, Mirantis and Brocade customers can now install and scale cloud service provider networks with OpenStack in days, not months. This partnership, and the resulting validated solution, offers enterprises and cloud service providers a new level of flexibility to deploy software-driven, automated, and scalable networks—all features that will prepare service providers for the New IP.

Brocade also announced that the company's OpenStack plugin for Brocade® VDX® Switches is now certified for Mirantis OpenStack. Brocade builds on the proven Mirantis OpenStack platform and Fuel, an open source deployment automation tool for OpenStack, to enable multitenant network orchestration across the data center. Brocade also provides additional network services to OpenStack environments with the Brocade Virtual ADX® and Brocade Vyatta® vRouter offerings. Both of these offerings will be certified with Mirantis OpenStack 5.x in the near future.

Brocade is dedicated to the OpenStack community and has been recognized by the OpenStack Foundation with OpenStack Compatible mark status for the Brocade VDX and SAN product families, extending Brocade's leadership in data center fabric technology to OpenStack environments.

“There is tremendous demand from OpenStack users for advanced networking, particularly scalable software-driven technology,” said Adrian Ionel, CEO, Mirantis. “By becoming a Mirantis Technology Partner, Brocade enriches the OpenStack ecosystem with robust cloud networking for service providers and enterprises building private clouds.”

Mirantis and Brocade have a shared understanding that IT elasticity and scalability are key requirements for cloud service providers, and have designed their solution to meet these needs. For example, Brocade VCS® Fabric technology enables cloud service providers to build out data center networks without disrupting supported cloud services. Coupled with Brocade Network Subscription, a pay-as-you-go acquisition model, Brocade can help organizations meet their networking challenges with financial flexibility.

“Cloud service providers face a number of challenges in hosting modern data centers that hinder innovation, including the lack of automation, limited resources, and high costs. To address this, Brocade and Mirantis have partnered to provide a best-in-class solution for cloud service providers based on Mirantis OpenStack distribution and Brocade networking technology—all designed to support the ever-increasing demands of cloud environments,” said Jason Nolet, Vice President Data Center and Enterprise Networking, Brocade.

Together, Mirantis and Brocade deliver a private cloud solution that is automated, efficient, and elastic—all of which allows cloud service providers to deploy a dense, robust, and cost-effective OpenStack cloud. Key benefits include:

  • Seamless automation and protection: Plugins for the Brocade VDX Switch, Brocade Virtual ADX, and Brocade Vyatta vRouter enable seamless network orchestration through the Fuel interface.
  • Proven, future-proof design: The Mirantis and Brocade solution architecture eliminates the complexities of using OpenStack and is fully updatable with new releases of Mirantis OpenStack, keyed to OpenStack releases.
  • Lower operational cost: An on-demand data center with a network acquired through Brocade Network Subscription reduces upfront capital requirements and deployment complexities while providing pay-as-you-go flexibility.
