An enthusiastic team of staff at Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel, Dubai, joined thousands of Dubai residents in the annual Pink Walkathon held in Zabeel Park, Dubai, to prove that every step counts in the battle against breast cancer. The famous walk, which was culmination of the month-long Safe & Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign organised by BurJuman, also raised money for research and access to screening and treatment for everyone in need.

It was a day of fun for the entire family as the event also included entertainment activities like live performance by music bands and dancers, a number of food stalls and a Pink Bazaar selling merchandise to raise fund. Although the two-kilometre run was a non-competitive event, the participants were competing in donating generously for the cause and cheering up the breast cancer survivors for facing the challenge sportingly.

Mr. Scott Butcher, General Manager of the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel, Dubai, said that the management is aware of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and always keen to support such initiatives. Wholehearted support from the staff members in such CSR activities is yet another remarkable aspect.

He said, “I am glad our team made a significant contribution by actively participating in the UAE's longest running and most popular walkathon supporting breast cancer outreach and fund-raising and sported Safe and Sound T-shirts and caps, in predominantly pink hues, to mark the occasion.”

“It is known to everybody that breast cancer is on the rise for women in the UAE under 40. But this walkathon has helped spread the message that ‘Nobody is immune.' Many survivors, who had no family history of breast cancer, yet were diagnosed, also joined the walk and shared their experiences and how did they get a new lease of life with sheer courage,” added Mr. Butcher.

As people from all walks of life, old and young came together to help raise awareness of breast cancer, it proved to be the biggest Pink Walkathon in the UAE beating the record it had set a year ago when over 15,000 people participated in the awareness drive.
