Global Village Launches Bigger and Better Guest Experience for the Upcoming 19th Season

Dubai, 8th November, 2014:  Global Village, Dubai's leading family entertainment and cultural attraction, has announced an even bigger and better array of amazing and innovative new events and special attractions as it prepares to open for its 19th season lasting 157 days on 6th November.

The guest experience for Season 19 will be the best yet with an expanded line-up of attractions, cultural shows and entertainment, new family facilities and as the Park offers a newly expanded space and more large scale and bigger entertainment and cultural shows to add to its line-up.

Global Village is now gearing up for its opening date and preparing to welcome millions of visitors from the UAE and across the region and has also added more services and facilities for the benefit of the visiting guests to the park. 

This season sees the launch of the first-ever mascot of Global Village; GLOBO. The family friendly character will be seen as the official host of the attraction and will have its own themed shows at Global Village. Guests will also get an opportunity to take pictures with GLOBO at the entertainment park and buy branded GLOBO merchandise at Globo Centre at Global Village. 

Speaking at a press conference the Global Village management team announced details of the exciting new events for the coming season including the return of the hugely popular Fantasy Island funfair concept in an improved and larger format which is  operated by internationally renowned rides and fun-fair specialists; the Mellors Group from the UK.

The company has a proud history of providing and running fairground rides around the world in high profile locations in London and other destinations. Well known for creating innovative events from large fairgrounds to celebratory activations, Mellors Group Events will bring to the Global Village guests, a series of more than 50 rides and games that all the family can enjoy.

This year Global Village will deliver more entertainment shows than ever before with many events being performed for the first time in the Middle East. These include the Wall Kings, Vertical Drummers, Comedy Car Show, FMX show, Lords of Lightening, Mirror Man, and much more. Guests will also get to enjoy Streetmosphere, The Covent Garden Street Festival which will bring the best of street artists from around the world, Thrill Shows and the regular fun packed and colourful parades, coupled with fireworks amongst other things. Guests can also experience the all new Dancing Fountain at Global Village.

Already hugely popular for its eating out experience, this year Global Village is extending its dining opportunities with more restaurants and cafes that will provide guests with more choices and opportunities to savour food and unique tastes from around the world. 

Commenting on the forthcoming season, Global Village Chief Operating Officer, Ahmad Hussain bin Essa said: “The Global Village team is proud to announce details of our 19th Season – what will be an eagerly anticipated and spectacular 157 days of world-class attractions, more than 12,000 cultural and entertainment shows, more than 20 music concerts for international Super Stars, fantastic dining, shopping and family fun featuring a wide range of brand new activities for our visitors from the UAE, the region and around the world.

“The Global Village team is gearing up to welcome our first visitors on Thursday 6th November to ensure they enjoy a fantastic family and fun-filled experience at the most popular and widely visited outdoor attraction in the Middle East.”

Global Village management is confident that visitors will find their ticket better value than ever before when they visit this season. Entry tickets for the coming season are priced at AED 15 per person and free admission for children under 3, individuals with special needs and people over 65 entering for free. Every ticket holder will be a winner this season as they will be given a Scratch and Win voucher with guaranteed prizes.

This year Global Village has for the first time introduced new Family & Economy Packs to add greater value and convenience to its visitors. The packs will be available at selected EPPCO and ENOC petrol stations around the UAE, meaning no waiting in lines at ticket counters! The Family Packs will be priced at AED 199 for 10 tickets and at AED 99 for 4 tickets, with a total value-add of nearly 45% discounts.

A key element to the 19th season is its alignment with Dubai's 2020 vision of smart innovation. This has meant a brand new website and its very own mobile application for easy accessibility to its end-users and this year sees Du offer free Wi-Fi in Global Village for the benefit of both guests and exhibitors. 

New Attractions and New Pavilions

Global Village prides itself on bringing new, innovative and international quality events to every new season and this year it only gets bigger and better.

This year the special attractions will include Prehistoric Oceanarium, Animals Land, Al Remal Pit, Illumination World, 3D Haunted House and Heritage Village. The Global Village Thrill Shows have always been a fantastic spectacle for guests of all ages, and this season at Global Village will be better than ever. Guests can look forward to never before seen acts from all over the world along with the return of old favourites to Global Village.

 The Global Village commitment to becoming more “global” every year sees the addition of Cambodia, Iraq and The Americas. It means this year there will be 31 pavilions in Global Village with more than 70 countries represented from every continent as its cultural reach and diversity continues to steadily grow.

In addition to the pavilions and new national representations, guests can sample a colourful and international selection of handmade goods, artifacts and tasty goodies from 150 kiosks and 3,500 shopping outlets at Global Village adding more colour and vibrancy to the event. 

Eating Out

The Global Village tradition of international dining offers a real treat for guests this season with over 25 restaurants from all over the world that include new look food court which in a brand new location close to Fantasy Island and will feature cuisines from around the world in addition to the great food and snacks experience which will also be available at several kiosks around the park. 

“Eating out is always a highlight for our guests every year because of our global culinary offerings and this year we are confident that the creation of a specially created food court area with a diverse range of restaurants will give our guests a greater opportunity than before to savour food from all over the world in one location,” said Mr. Ahmed Hussain bin Essa.

He also thanked this year's official sponsors and strategic partners for Global Village who include for this season Government entities, including Dubai Police, DEWA, RTA, Civil Defense Department, Dubai Health Authority, General Directorate, and Department of Economic Development. The Global Village management team also announced that the new attractions and entertainment, combined with new technology offers will strengthen the park's importance to helping the growth of tourism in Dubai and support the Emirate's ambition to attract 20 million visitors by 2020.

Global Village is one of Dubai's biggest brands and tourism destinations, with a team of over 10,000 people ensuring the delivery of a fantastic experience for guests over its more than 5 months season. It welcomes nearly five million guets a year and is regarded as one of the region's most popular homegrown tourism and cultural leisure brands.

Located on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed highway for ease of access, Global Village has parking space for 17,000 cars, which makes it one of the top tourist destinations in the UAE at an affordable cost.
