UAE, 1 November, 2014 - The Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2014 (DWHC) has revealed that a total of 308 participants are competing in the Gulf Products competition—268 local participants and 40 participants from GCC and Arabian countries. The Gulf Products competition is broken down into two categories; food innovations and hospitality utensils. The first category is focusing on the preparation of food products, with each of the participants choosing their best three products to be judged on site. Meanwhile, the second category will highlighting creations made by participants using decoration kits and hospitality utensils. Entered products were exhibited on site for visitors and judges to see.
Saeed Al Jabri, Administrator of Gulf Products Competition, DWHC, described the event as a strategic forum for global hospitality segment that looks towards discussing key issues, exchanging information and highlighting the talent of the industry. He added that the DWHC is the finest and best of its kind event, thanks to the support given by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Al Jabri noted, “These categories will be highlighting the innovation skills and the utensils to be used in making their creations. The category has been designed to encourage users to showcase their products with the DWHC supporting the development of their creations. Meanwhile, the food innovation category introduces the audience to the skills of the participating chefs and adds experience in their creation of both local and international recipes. The food creations category saw the participation of 146 Emiratis and 20 participants from Arab and Gulf countries, while 122 UAE participants and 20 from the Arab and Gulf region participated in the utensils category.”
Al Jabri confirmed that the second cycle of the championship has become more distinctive and unique in terms of its activities, in the context of the obligation to preserve the traditions of UAE hospitality and authenticity of heritage.
Al Jabri stated that the food innovation category saw participants competing in the preparation of innovative food products that will be displayed in the exhibition accompanying the event. Arbitration for this category will see the selection of the top three best food products—including sweets, cakes, and salty, as well as biscuits, citrus fruits, sandwiches and other innovative types of food innovation.
Al Jabri stressed that the hospitality utensils category serves as a special platform for participants to showcase their creations. This category includes; decorating pots, hospitality utensils from cups, dishes, cutlery and accessories like covers, trays, etc. Entries were displayed to visitors and the jury to see.
