Dubai, UAE, 6 October, 2014: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that customers who conduct their transactions using its smart app will be entered into prize draws every day, during its participation at GITEX Technology Week, which will be held from 12—16 October 2014 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Additionally, there will be a grand-prize draw in February 2015.
Customers will qualify to enter the daily raffle draws to win smart and other valuable prizes, by conducting certain services using the smart app, between 20 July and 9 October 2014. Selected services include Final Bill request, Green Bill registration, Move In service, Pay for a friend, and activating the mobile-payment Auto-Pay feature on the website (www.dewa.gov.ae).
Customers who pay their electricity and water bills in full for three consecutive months using the smart app, between 1 August 2014 and 31 January 2015, will qualify for the grand prize raffle draw in February 2015. DEWA will announce three grand prizes during GITEX.
“DEWA succeeded in transforming all its services into smart services less than a year after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the Smart Dubai initiative, and the National Agenda to establish Dubai as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, green economy, and sustainability,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“DEWA started its smart transformation in 2010 according to the highest levels of competitiveness, which resulted in providing more than 150 services and features through smart phones and devices. This achievement supports the directives of our prudent leadership to provide seamless government services around the clock, using the latest technologies based on a clear understanding of customer needs for a sustainable future, for generations to come,” added Al Tayer.
Al Tayer noted that adopting smart services helps in saving the environment, which is one of the main objectives of DEWA. In 2013, DEWA's customers conducted 3.3 million transactions on its website and smart app. This helped eliminate the emission of 11,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide that could have resulted from customers travelling to and from DEWA offices. This equates to planting 56,331 trees in an area equivalent to 106 football fields.
DEWA's smart app can be downloaded from its mobile-version website (mobile.dewa.gov.ae) or major app stores. All DEWA's services are available through its app which supports iOS and Android platforms, and on its web application on the website (dewa.gov.ae) for mobile phones. It can also be used on other platforms such as BlackBerry, Windows, Windows Phone, Samsung home applications and Etisalat's eLife.
