Zara Home Fall - Winter 2014 Collection

September 2014.- Zara Home presents a collection that draws on some of the most beautiful tales from history books. As if they were plucked from a library, each of the collections displays the brushstrokes of history, culture and art. These small fragments of literature are reinterpreted from an aesthetic point of view, creating incredible spaces in which any detail can transport us to a distant time or dreamscape.

The first part of the collection, Herbarium, dives through botanical textbooks, capturing clippings from plants and flowers brought back from excursions and studied in science classes. Flower stems and petals flutter inspire kitchen items, giving shape to floral cups and tableware. Bedding is colored with different sized bright flowers that recreate unforgettable gardens. Cheerful colors like mandarin, fuchsia, lime green and yellow are used to create this floral universe, combined with white and taupe backgrounds that accentuate the beauty of the plants.

Bringing back the romantic air of days gone by, Zara Home presents New Vintage, a collection inspired by gorgeous antiques that have been lovingly restored to create a sophisticated aesthetic quality. Distressed fabrics and sun-bleached colors make their appearance. Objects are drawn using trompe-l'œil with deceiving shapes, making us believe we can see what is not there.

This antique character comes to life with brightly colored details like multicolored stripes.

This season's Hotel collection draws inspiration from the Victorian era with a total white and grey look, giving centre stage to silver as the star metal. Monograms and ancient crests jump off the pages of heraldic books in the form of prints decorating the collection's items.

Asian designs and the artistry of Uzbekistan's Suzani textiles inspire the Urban Uzbek collection, and are updated with the use of more modern colors and fabrics. There is an ethnic air in the warm earth tones–the classics of this style–mixed with electric blue and purples.

This innovative combination of classic and modern gives off a trendy folk vibe with details from traditional artistry.

The Medieval Romanticism of Queen Victoria in the 19th century is captured in textiles and items enhanced with aged gold and silver in Victorian Revival. Prints taken from vintage illustrations, flowers worn by the passage of time and ancient manuscripts give shape to this classic and on-trend collection.

The historical tradition of North America inspires the Feathers and Horses collection. The first, more sophisticated part of the collection includes feathers and details in leather and fur. The second part, with cleaner lines, centers on the world of horses, their figures and their accoutrements: buckles, horseshoes and stirrups. The collection closes with a third and final part, which is wilder and riskier, in which eagles and feline prints take the spotlight.
