[UAE, July 3, 2014] – The Ministry of Education launched yesterday a new humanitarian campaign in tribute to the memory of His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. ‘Humanitarian Work of the UAE,' is a campaign approved by the Council of Ministers, under the slogan ‘Zayed's Humanitarian Work Day…Love and Loyalty for the Zayed Giving.'

The campaign also coincides with the Ministry's show of support for the ‘UAE Water Aid' campaign, which was launched recently by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide safe drinking water to five million people worldwide.  The ministry expressed its commitment to promote the initiative in the education sector to ensure its success.

Aside from the ‘UAE Water Aid,' the ministry also scheduled a series of activities in accordance to the directives of H.E. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Minister of Education. The events will be held in the coming days until the 19th day of Ramadan, which is also the commemoration of H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's death anniversary. The ministry's initiatives are based on the humanitarian principles laid down by Sheikh Zayed.

H.E. Marwan Al Sawalih, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, said that the Ministry of Education is paying tribute to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan through the planned activities. The events are part of a host of ongoing initiatives set for the academic year which will be implemented by the ministry and school districts. The main objective is to promote the country's traditions and values to the young Emiratis.

H.E. Amal Al Qous, Assistant Undersecretary for Sector Activities and School Environment, stated that the ministry and zone administrations have integrated diverse activities and events to reinforce the value of humanitarian works and to urge stakeholders in the education sector, including students and their parents, to get involved in meaningful  initiatives that strengthen national identity, promote volunteer work and human services, and pay tribute to the memory of H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

She pointed out that the ministry will utilize all communication tools, including social media, to disseminate information about humanitarian activities, particularly the ‘UAE Water Aid' campaign, and events honoring Sheikh Zayed such as visiting the sick, elderly people and helping poor families.
