Dubai, UAE; 2 July, 2014: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a contract to build a new AED76 million 132/11kV substation in Jumeirah to meet growing demand for electricity. This is one of a series of development projects DEWA is working on to strengthen its infrastructure by building, installing and commissioning new substations in different parts of Dubai.

“To achieve our vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, DEWA is enhancing its infrastructure and service facilities according to the highest international standards to enable us to meet the needs of our residential and business customers. These efforts also support sustainability in Dubai and reinforces the Emirate's position as a global hub for trade, finance and tourism,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“The project further strengthens the capacity of DEWA's networks to transfer electricity to Jumeriah and improve the efficiency and reliability of DEWA's networks across these thriving areas and ensures continuity and stability of supply to all consumers at all times,” added Al Tayer.

Al Tayer noted that these stations employ the latest digital substation technologies that support the reliability and efficiency of the stations and eventually support Dubai's constructions plans and ambitions for economic growth.
