Monica Gill from USA crowned Miss India Worldwide 2014

22nd June 2014: Miss India USA, Monica Gill was crowned Miss India Worldwide on Friday at Al Raha Beach Hotel. The second place went to Cynferth Turrian from Switzerland and third place to Priya D'Silva from Bahrain.

40 contestants of Indian origin from across various countries between the age of 18 and 27 years, participated in the Miss India pageant.

The finale happened at the Al Raha Beach Resort, Abu Dhabi, where Miss India Worldwide 2013 Nehal Bhogaita had crowned Monica Gill. Being hearing impaired, Bhogaita is the first differently-abled contestant to have successfully come away with the crown in the competition's history. The judges on the panel included Indian Actress and Model Neha Dhupia, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, Indian Actress Richa Chadda, Indian Actor Nikhil Dwivedi, Fashion Designer Rohit Verma, RJ Meghna from 101.6FM and Chairman for IFC, Dharmatma Singh.

This year, all the participating girls arrived in Dubai last Sunday from countries including Australia, US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Uganda, Kenya, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

The pageant included rounds like evening gown, ethnic round, a talent contest and question-and-answer sections.

Surat girl Anugya Sharma represented India at Miss India Worldwide and Sanna Monga from New Delhi represented UAE.

The winner would receive a cash prize of $8000 on completing the tasks during the year. Contestants also receive various sponsored gifts, including photo sessions, modeling assignments and recommendation to the Bollywood industry.
