Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 19, 2014: The third semester of the Future Health Leaders training programme for professionals from the healthcare industry began today.

The nine-month intensive training programme is organized by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in collaboration with International Hospital Federation (IHF) and Index Holding.

Maryam Abdulla Bin Subaih, Director of Human Resources at the DHA, said: “At the DHA, we firmly believe in the importance of continuous medical education to develop our human resources. In many ways, human resource is the backbone of the health sector and is needed for its growth and development. This programme has been tailor-made specially keeping in mind the nuances of the health sector in the emirate.”

She added that during the first two semesters, participants underwent training in the basics of management and administration skills needed to run hospitals and health centres effectively. They received advanced training in health care management and strategies that can positively contribute to the overall development of the health sector.  In the final semester, participants are working on  projects they believe will help bring about a transformation in the health sector in relation to their specific field of expertise. The projects will go through rigorous assessment and will be evaluated based on a set of parameters. Those participants that successfully complete these projects will receive a diploma from the International Hospital Federation.”

Subaih said that the DHA will continue to provide such training programmes for its employees across various fields of healthcare to help ensure constant development of its human resources in line with international standards and in order to keep up with advances in the health sector.
