Dubai, 6st May 2014: “Babades with Chantilly” - first-ever Greek Theatre Play at the Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Dubai - in support of vulnerable fellow citizens in Greece

For the first time ever, Thespis Greek Theatre Group, a group of Greek amateur actors living in Dubai, will perform “Babades with Chantilly”, by the highly acclaimed Greek screenwriters M. Reppas and Th. Papathanassiou.
The event will take place at the Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, at the Mall of the Emirates on 7th June, 2014 with two back to back performances at 4:30pm and 8pm respectively.

The hilarious play explores, in a black comedy style, the human greed for riches, and how two brothers and their wives, a neighbor and a cunning Bulgarian woman will go to extremes to attain it. A caustic satire of the contemporary Greek society, filled with unforeseen situations and twists, delivered by immoral, cynical, heroes, without a hint of either conscience or feelings. The ultimate goal is: money. The writers use a majestically clever plot and a barrage of comical quotes, leaving the audience roaring with laughter.

“Even though it evolves in provincial Greece, we find the comedy relates equally to the everyday lifestyle of the Greek expats in the UAE, who are still faced with materialistic dilemmas and family pressures” says Constance Kratsa, who directs the play. “We chose Thespis as the name of our vision to promote Greek culture to the Arab world and to allow Greek expats to keep in touch with their theatrical tradition, whilst supporting non profit humanitarian causes aiming to help Greece” adds Mrs. Kratsa.

BROADWAY Entertainment Group is proud to support “Babades with Chantilly” as Platinum sponsor, and promotes global outsourcing and distribution of theatre via a contracted network of live venues. Broadway Entertainment Group is both a production business and a service provider to the global entertainment industry.

The event will also feature a British Vogue celebrated Greek Fashion Designer, Myrto Dramountani, who will be showcasing her 2014 spring-summer collection for the first time in the UAE.  Following her successful encounter with leading fashion firms in New York, Myrto is based today in London and Dubai working on her own collections.

This Greek theatre initiative signifies the beginning of a series of cultural, music and sporting events organized by the ever-growing Greek expat community in the UAE, actively demonstrating its continuous care and concern for the present and future of Greece.
“It is extremely touching to witness how the Greek expat community has pulled together, working actively and harmoniously towards promoting the country to the Arab world in the region, as well as sharing its core ancient Greek values, such as theatre, music and athletic ethos, for the benefit of those affected back home”, commented Mrs. Maria Karra, founder of Emfasis Foundation, based in Dubai.

All proceeds from will be donated to the Greek non-profit organization Emfasis Foundation, a non-profit cause founded a year ago by a group of Greek citizens living overseas.
