Three day campaign promotes safety with truck drivers and transport managers across the region

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the master developer of ports and industrial zones, has launched its second annual Truck Drivers Safety Campaign in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police (AD Police), the Emirates Department of Transport and the Emirates Driving Company (EDC).

The campaign to promote safer driving “Be aware & drive with care”  aims to reach more than 2,000 truck drivers, who enter Abu Dhabi ports in more than 700 trucks every day.

This year's campaign includes free safety inspections for of all of the trucks and a workshop for transport managers addressing key issues relating to fleet management and safety guidelines in ports and on the surrounding roads.

The activity also includes a series of new induction movies developed by ADPC, which focus on managing risk across the whole port area and ‘Safe Driving' presentations organized by the AD Police and EDC in English, Urdu, Pashtu and Arabic.

The participants will have the opportunity to experience ADPC's state-of-the-art driving simulator and ADPC's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department will be giving helpful tips on road safety.

Alongside the campaign, ADPC will be hosting an open forum for Trucking Company Management and Transport Managers on May 7, from 9 am to 12 pm at ADPC's head offices, in Abu Dhabi.

The forum will showcase upcoming regulations and the future transport plan for the UAE, along with a demonstration on truck registration approval and a question and answer session.

“The open forum will provide a good opportunity for transport managers in the area to discuss issues and share any concerns with the concerned entities”, says Sultan Al Jaberi, Vice President (VP) - Regulations, HSE and Security.
Al Jaberi adds: “Safety is our top priority, our ‘Be aware drive with care' campaign was a great success last year, reaching a large number of truck drivers.
“We welcome the opportunity to work with our partner organisations on this important initiative again, together we can ensure safety is top priority for everyone using our ports while helping to make the roads around the emirate safer too.”
