Milano April 2014. Yesterday, Monday March 31st, Vacheron Constantin inaugurated the photographic exhibition 'TRANSMETTRE. Percorsi di sapere', fourth edition's first event of European Artistic Crafts Days, with the participation of Sandrina Bandera, Superintendent and Director of Pinacoteca di Brera, Franco Cologni, President of the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte and Tiziana and Gianni Baldizzone, the two photographers.
Since 1755, when Jean-Marc Vacheron employed his first apprentice and founded the oldest Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, Vacheron Constantin has been cultivating, transmitting and developing all the crafts employed in watchmaking, thanks to a creative process that has placed the relationship between master and apprentice at the centre for almost 260 years.
From this mission arose the determination to support neglected or little-known arts and crafts constituting a veritable living 'heritage'.
Today, and for the fourth consecutive year, Vacheron Constantin is renewing its support for the European Artistic Crafts Days an initiative founded in Paris under the aegis of the National Institute of Artistic Crafts and organised in Milan by the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte under the patronage of the Comune di Milano.
On April 4th, 5th and 6th in London, Geneva and Paris, as well as throughout the rest of France, the European Artistic Crafts Days presented a series of events aiming to promote and transmit age-old skills and artistic crafts.
As part of these activities, Vacheron Constantin presented a photographic exhibition at the Pinacoteca di Brera by Tiziana and Gianni Baldizzone entitled 'TRANSMETTRE. Percorsi di sapere'.
The exhibition showcases, through 80 pictures, a three-year journey in various corners of the world, exploring the universal theme of the transmission of know-how: a tribute to the masters who embody and perpetuate traditional skills, a heritage of humanity and the expression of cultural diversity.
The exhibition will run until April 13th 2014.
