Tuesday , April 1st, 2014, Cairo/Dubai – PappaRoti, the innovative international café chain based in the United Arab Emirates, has celebrated its first year anniversary in Egypt at a party held on Sunday, 30 March at the Intercontinental Hotel, City Stars, Cairo. No less than the Founder of PappaRoti Cafe and Master franchisor for the MENA region, CIS and India and multi-awarded UAE entrepreneur, Ms. Rasha Al Dhanhani, led the fun-filled celebration.
Ms. Al Dhanhani, was awarded twice by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, two Dubai SME Awards – one for small and medium businesses and another for ‘Best Businesswoman in 2012'. She lately also win the Entrepreneur of the Year Award¡ at the Arab Woman Awards UAE 2013.
Al Dhanhani was overwhelmed with congratulations from VIP guests, friends in the media, staff and select guests. She said, “I've always loved Egypt even as a small girl and having Egyptian teachers growing up deepened that love even more. So nothing could keep me from bringing PappaRoti to Egypt.” She continued, Our celebration was very significant. We did not just make it through our first year; we've been embraced by our Egyptian customers in ways that exceeded expectations. We feel very established already as we are now considered a favorite pit stop for all buns lovers and the social crowd in Cairo.”
It was on March 28 of last year that PappaRoti opened its doors at City Stars Mall, one of Cairo's most prestigious malls. The timing was a surprise to many as Egypt's political situation in 2013 was not conducive at all to many foreign investors. But Ms. Al Dhanhani was undeterred, propelled by her strong affinity with Egypt.
While there are many components that ensure success for PappaRoti, the main secret is in the passion, dedication and professionalism. During the celebration, Al Dhanhani presented tokens of appreciation to all the staff members of PappaRoti Cafe in Cairo as a thank you for their hard work and dedication. She said, “We are offering excellent buns, perfect ambience and great service at PappaRoti. Who can resist that? Plus, it's my genuine goodwill to contribute to Egypt's economic revival. We currently employ 20 young Egyptians whom we are empowering for the future. I'm proud of them. They're the epitome of the warm Egyptian hospitality.”
PappaRoti is originally a Malaysian brand that was transformed into a cafe concept by Ms. Al Dhanhani and has caught the fancy of customers worldwide with its offers of signature caramelized-coated buns which are matched with an equally refreshing range of quality beverages.
PappaRoti Cairo is Al Dhanhani's first store in Egypt and forms part of her fast-growing café chain. Since establishing her first store in Dubai in 2009, PappaRoti has become a top-earning brand in the region with more than 60 outlets and franchises in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Libya.
About her expansion plan in Egypt, Al Dhanhani revealed, “The plan is to have one PappaRoti cafe in every city or suburb in Egypt in the next 5 years. It will be a remarkable celebration when we get there.”
She added, “I would not have missed celebrating our first year in Cairo for anything. We celebrated the best way possible. It's important to share our success together and acknowledge those that have made our Cairo venture another success story.”
