Rado is presenting its latest exciting products for 2014

RADO HYPERCHROME CERAMIC TOUCH DUAL TIMER
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

(Lengnau, Switzerland – 2014) At Rado you can always expect technology, innovation, high-tech materials and great design. Our hero for 2014 won't only meet all of your expectations, but will go above and beyond what you thought was possible for a ceramic timepiece.

Ceramic touch technology made its world premiere at Rado in 2013 and makes a welcome return in 2014 on a new gent's model from the popular Rado HyperChrome family.

Good looks are always guaranteed at Rado, but this men's model will dazzle with its functions as well as its pretty face. Five all new references make up the first selection of touch technology complications and there's a technical Rado twist with the materials too.

Slim, streamlined and featuring the now famous Rado monobloc case construction, the new Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer is the perfect package for the breakthrough technology which sits inside the case. It's a complication that's simple to use and doesn't need a crown.

Dual Timer: A touch of manliness

Two hands on the main dial display the time where you are now and two hands on the small dial at 6 o'clock show the second time zone.

The main time display is set using sensors at the top of the case. After activation slide your finger along the left hand side of the case to change the hours and on the right hand side to change the minutes. The minutes on the two time zones are synchronised to guarantee accuracy and both minute hands will move during time setting on the main dial.

The small dial is set using the sensors at the bottom of the case. After activation slide your finger along the left hand side of the case to change the hours and on the right to change the minutes in quarter hour intervals. 15 minutes is the smallest difference between world time zones and the quartz movement in this new Rado watch makes changing this interval super simple as well as ultra quick. Technology has made possible what cannot be achieved with a mechanical watch: a 15 minute leap forward or back across time zones.

Need to change the second time zone to the main display as you cross time zones? No problem. Touch the ceramic case at 9 and 3 o'clock simultaneously and watch time fly as the Rado magic swaps the times on the dials.

For the man who travels this is the perfect timepiece. Lightweight, hypoallergenic and scratch-resistant it can stay on your wrist whatever you have planned.  In full high-tech ceramic you won't even need to take it off to get through airport security.

Presented in matt black with rose gold coloured details and a stylish leather strap, shiny white for a dashing dose of flamboyant style, polished black on a ceramic bracelet, shiny grey with rose gold coloured details or ground-breaking matt grey with rhodium details there's a model guaranteed to go with your travel wardrobe.

The Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer: it won't slow you down and you'll never lose your cool.

RADO AND MATERIALS
A GREY AREA

(Lengnau, Switzerland – 2014) For two of the new Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer watches, Rado introduces another world first to the watch industry with its polished and matt cool grey high-tech ceramic.

As ever, Rado is leading the way when it comes to high-tech materials, with high-tech ceramic in particular taking centre stage for 2014.

Grey is a colour which is incredibly difficult to recreate consistently in exactly the same hue but Rado has used its technical know-how to ensure that the exact colour is reproduced each time. For this, Rado has mastered both the delicate composition  of materials required to create this new colour and the sintering cycle. Sintering takes place in a specially developed oven and is the technical name for ‘baking' ceramic. During this process the finished piece shrinks by 23% and achieves its final hardness rating of 1250 Vickers.

The exact colour is dependent on the temperature and length of the sintering process. As the exact colour of each individual piece is known only after sintering, this is a very delicate process.  Sintering happens towards the end of the production process and a sintered piece can no longer be recycled or reused as ‘raw' ceramic.

One shade of grey

The unique grey colour is created when separate compounds merge together during the high temperature sintering process.

When it started working with high-tech ceramic in 1986 on the iconic Integral, Rado was first only able to create shiny black finishes.  As technology advanced and Rado's will to innovate continued, creating flawless white high-tech ceramic became a reality. Matt finishes and a metallic sheen in 100% ceramic in the shape of Rado's patented and exclusive plasma high-tech ceramic soon followed.  Rado developed the ability to colour both polished and matt finish high-tech ceramic and where Rado led, others have followed.

Consistency is always the biggest challenge and many coloured high-tech ceramic watches are often only produced in very limited quantities because of this. Rado's expert know-how has made consistency concerns a thing of the past – even with grey, which is one of the most difficult colours to produce.  Once again Rado proves itself to be the master of materials.

The new cool grey high-tech ceramic from Rado: it's the only grey area that is a good place to be.

RADO ESENZA CERAMIC TOUCH JUBILÉ 132 LIMITED EDITION
MATERIAL MAGIC FOR ADDED SPARKLE

(Lengnau, Switzerland – 2014) If a little material magic goes a long way, this exciting new Rado model could be light years away by the time you catch up with it.

Blazing a trail past other ceramic watches the Rado Esenza Ceramic Touch with its patented sensual setting was an overnight sensation after its launch in 2013. 2014 sees the ceramic touch technology in the spotlight again with a spectacular Rado twist.

A galaxy of diamonds on the dial swirl and whirl away into the great beyond, and onto the case and then the bracelet links, where – for the first time at Rado – they are set directly into the ceramic. Painstaking research led to this new materials technology being used in watchmaking for the first time this year.

The monobloc case and each tiny individual high-tech ceramic bracelet link is taken and marked exactly where the diamonds need to be placed to ensure the perfect pattern.  Tiny holes are then made in the ceramic using a laser.

Platinum is then softened and shaped in a tiny quantity into each cavity before the diamond is set into the ceramic. Each individual diamond is set by hand using traditional watchmaking skills and the platinum is almost invisible after setting.  This is a very complex watch to create as well as a very beautiful timepiece.

A total of 132 diamonds show Rado at its very best: innovative ceramic touch technology, sleek minimalistic design and a dash of material magic all combine to create understated luxury with an ethereal feel.

Perfect for the lady who likes to be noticed for all the right reasons, the Rado Esenza Ceramic Touch Jubilé 132 is out of this world.

RADO ESENZA CERAMIC TOUCH FIBONACCI COLOURS
NATURAL BRILLIANCE AND HIGH-TECH SHINE

(Lengnau, Switzerland – 2014) Beautiful blue, glamorous green and opulent orange: these are the colours that feature on the new high-end jewellery pieces from Rado in its ground-breaking Esenza Ceramic Touch family.

Chosen not only for their beauty, but also for their hardness, durability and natural brilliance, these gemstones are precious in more ways than one.  The sensual curved shape of the case may suggest pure femininity, but – when it comes to materials – Rado is not known for its soft side.

The cases and bracelets are made from lightweight, scratch-resistant and super shiny polished high-tech ceramic. This sensual material is incredibly comfortable to wear and its hypoallergenic properties make it skin friendly and tantalisingly touchable.

In stark contrast to the shiny black are the 534 naturally gorgeous precious stones that appear on each dial. The natural side of their beauty is underlined in the Fibonacci setting of the stones, which is often seen in plants and flowers. The pattern is a perfect harmony of proportion.

A touch sensation

Blue sapphires are known for their beauty and durability – only a diamond is  harder. Orange sapphires are rare and mysterious while green tsavorite garnets are a vivid, radiant green and are known for their amazing shine.

But the magic doesn't end with the gemstones, as Rado's patented ceramic touch technology is incorporated into each silky smooth ceramic case.  With the gentle touch and sweep of a finger along the side of the ceramic case – left for hours and right for minutes – time can be made to fly by or can be turned back in a single stroke.

Activated by touch alone these watches are a perfect balance between jewellery and timepiece. Too tempting not to touch.
