Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Choix Patisserie & Restaurant par Pierre Gagnaire, the world-renowned chef's newest venture, officially opened its doors on the 10th of March, 2014 at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City. The unveiling ceremony was led by Mr. Omar Al Futtaim, Vice-Chairman of the Al Futtaim Group and Chef Pierre Gagnaire.
The much-anticipated launch saw the attendance of His Excellency Eric Giraud-Telme, French Consul General in Dubai; Al Futtaim Group officials including Chris O'Donnell, CEO Al Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE); Len Hunt, CEO Al Futtaim Automotive; Moutaz Duwaji, Director Hospitality (AFGRE); Emad Nimeh, Director Projects and Development (AFGRE); Charles Award, General Manager GMASCO; as well as InterContinental officials including Pascal Gauvin, COO InterContinental Hotel Group MEI; Ignace Bauwens, Operations Vice-President UAE, Near East and Africa; and, James Koratzopoulos, Area General Manager of InterContinental Dubai Festival City, InterContinental Residence Suites Dubai Festival City, Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City and Al Badia Golf Club.
Three Michelin star Chef Pierre Gagnaire who arrived a week ahead of the event to personally spearhead the final preparations for the opening shares, “this wouldn't have been possible without the trust and support of InterContinental Dubai Festival City and, of course, Mr. Omar Al Futtaim. To them, I say thank you for providing another venue for me to share with Dubai and the world the best of my cuisine.”
Chris O'Donnell, CEO, Al Futtaim Group Real Estate explained the vision behind the new project. “We've imagined Choix Patisserie & Restaurant par Pierre Gagnaire to be a home-grown brand that infuses the whole Parisian feel with the local taste as interpreted by Chef Pierre. After the success of Reflet, we are confident that this one-of-a-kind project must be experienced by locals, residents and tourists alike,” he announced.
The guests were treated with exquisite dishes including Balik Salmon and Jacob's Cream & Seaweed Brioche, Beef Tenderloin with Onion Marmalade, Comte Cheese and Baby Spinach as well as sweet dishes such as Pierre Gagnaire's special “Hommage à Dubai”, a Camel Milk Panna Cotta, Saffron Cake and Dates Poached in Earl Grey Tea and other most tempting treats from the Choix menu.
As a support to local artists, the evening featured a performance from Esther Eden Fernandes and live painting from Sara Japanwalla. Esther Eden serenaded the Choix guests with her rendition of “Say Something” by Christina Aguilera. Sara Japanwalla, www.sarajapanwalla.com , is the creative artist behind the illustration of Choix's opening campaign. Sara has been a finalist for the Young Designer Award at the Swarowski Bridal Show in 2007, one of the six artists in Mercato's Community Art competition, and a finalist for two consecutive years for Harper's Bazaar Fashion Illustrator of the Year Award.
