Speaking on the evening of the first International Government Communication Forum, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi said: “The IGCF has transformed into a global event that attracts leaders and communication experts from various regional and international governments, the private sector and media organisations. Sharjah Media Centre has worked tirelessly to ensure we host an event of high calibre that is a worthy successor to the previous editions of the regional government communication forums and receives a similar response.'
The Forum's Organising Committee has divided their working force into a number of committees; The Operations Committee, which provides technical and logistical support for VIPs and guests while coordinating with the Protocol Committee responsible for receiving them and managing their hotel bookings. The Events Committee is responsible for gathering necessary information about participants and handles all advertising and promotional collaterals; the Media Committee is responsible for all media-related matters.
The first regional Government Communication Forum was organised by Sharjah Media Centre in 2012. The forum discussed relevant communication challenges that were triggered by the socio-political occurrences in the Arab world. IGCF 2014 is a first-of-its-kind event that articulates the SMC's efforts to develop government communication mechanisms for the benefit of government institutions in the UAE and wider region.
