• Geotab achieves minimal latency from inside the UAE to the servers

Dubai-UAE: 25 December, 2013 – eHosting DataFort (eHDF), the region's leading managed IT services provider and a member of TECOM Investments, has been appointed by Geotab Middle East to deliver a fully managed services solution for its critical business application - the GPS Tracking System.

Geotab is a global leader in providing the world's most sophisticated GPS fleet management solutions that help organizations develop company-wide management policies to improve driver behaviour, enhance driver safety, and on-road productivity. It manages 400,000 vehicles worldwide, measuring GPS data and trip activity, sending the information back to a server via GPRS, and then providing insight into how fleets can be managed more effectively.

The company's GPS tracking application needed to have very low latency in order to offer clients nearly live fleet data and with the fully managed services solution hosted at eHosting DataFort's data centres in Dubai, very fast response time with minimal latency was achieved.

Johan Wolhuter, Regional Manager, Geotab Middle East, said: “We are in the business of capturing real-time fleet data for our clients. This makes it crucial for us to have our IT systems running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with minimal latency. Our business demands that we always remain connected with the fleet on the road.

Therefore it was important to work with a company that understood our business and provided us with a fully managed hosting set-up for our GPS tracking system along with 24/7 support. eHosting DataFort offered the right solution that met our needs so that we no longer need to worry about managing the IT systems and can concentrate on our core business.”

Geotab Middle East first went online in June 2013 and has already signed clients from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar and Oman. With almost two decades of overall experience, it lists several Fortune 100 companies as its key clients. The company's strategy to leverage eHDF's services comes at a time when the uptake for its application witnesses significant demand in the region with more and more retail organisations shifting towards online shopping options.

The data collected by the GPS tracking system ranges from minute details such as the driver stopping the vehicle and opening his cabin door between two scheduled stops to idling, speeding or taking a detour.

Wolhuter added: “Companies are running a tight ship to make their offerings cost effective. So there is a need to collate as much data as possible to ensure no time and money is lost whilst transporting shipments from the warehouse to the customer.”

Yasser Zeineldin, CEO, eHosting DataFort, said: “We are pleased to partner with Geotab Middle East, for whom IT forms the core of the organisation's operations and offerings to its customers. Our specifically tailored solutions, technical expertise, track record of providing best-in-class reliability and uptime positioned us as the service provider of choice for Geotab.”

eHosting DataFort has established itself as a market leader in the field of hosting and managed IT services, having been recognized year-on-year as the ‘Best Managed Service Provider of the Year' across the Middle East. This year, the company has embarked on major capital investments to scale up its data centres in order to address the increased customer demand on its facilities and services.
