70 Percent of Middle East and Africa Customers Change to Healthier Diet; World Health Organization Recommends 400 Grams per Day of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 12 December 2013 – Panasonic Corporation has launched a new line of juicers that provide the best-ever juicing experience, in response to Middle East customer demand for healthier diets that feature fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are essential for a healthy diet, as the World Health Organization recommends 400 grams per day to prevent chronic diseases. Worldwide 55 percent of consumers are eating “more natural, fresh foods,” while 70 percent of Middle East and Africa consumers are changing their diet to lose weight, according to Nielsen's report “Healthy Eating Trends Around the World.” Kei Taniguchi, General Manager, Consumer Sales and Marketing, Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa, said: “Our customers across the Middle East and Africa are health-conscious, and increasingly want ways to quickly make nutritious fruit and vegetable juice drinks. Our new line of Panasonic juicers have enhancements that provide our customers with the leading juicing experience less chopping and less pulp, easier to clean, and our highest-ever juice extraction ratio.” Demonstrating strong regional demand, the Middle East imported USD 4.2 billion of produce in 2012, with the GCC at USD 2.2 billion, according to the WOP Dubai International Perishables Expo Middle East. Dubai is a major hub, having imported 1.4 billion kg of produce in the first half of 2012. Enhancing the juicing experience, Panasonic's stainless steel bodied MD-DJ01 and the plastic bodied MJ-SJ01 models feature a 75 mm feeder tube that is wide enough to fit a whole apple, so customers no longer need to cut or chop whole fruits or vegetables; larger, easy-to-clean, and durable full stainless steel spinners; a new 120 degree rotatable and anti-drip spout; and a 1.5 litre juice jug and 2.0 litre pulp container. The spinner provides three steps for the highest juice extraction ratio: a fine filter mesh that prevents pulp and seeds from being mixed, a metallic wall that prevents fruit fibre from jamming the mesh, and a low-angle blade that cuts fruit smaller to ensure that juice comes out smoothly. The MJ-DJ01 model, which has two speeds, provides up to five percent more juicing compared to earlier Panasonic juicers, and up to eight percent more juicing compared to competitors. Features 1.
