Sumo Sushi & Bento recognized for excellence and leadership at the 2013 MENAFA Awards

Dubai, U.A.E –5 December 2013-  Sumo Sushi & Bento are proud to announce that they have won the coveted best UAE Franchise Brand award as part of the 2013 Middle East North Africa Franchise Association (MENAFA) Awards for their excellence in franchising .

The MENAFA Awards are often applauded as a defining point in the franchising calendar to showcase the best brands within the industry. This year was no exception, with entries received from over 300 brands across eleven categories.

The MENAFA Awards were presented by His Excellency Abdulrahim Hasn Naqi, Secretary General of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce at the Grosvenor House, and rewards the outstanding achievements of businesses in the franchise industry. 

Youssef Dakroub, Co-founder of Sumo Sushi & Bento commented, “This award is a reflection of our commitment to providing the highest possible quality and support to our franchises. We are honored to have received this distinction from the MENAFA which is a testament of the lengths we will go in our supporting role to our partners. The judging panel was particularly impressed with our adaptability to change, our high standards as well as the brand appeal to all ages and demographics. Sumo has experienced huge success expanding the business, with nine successful branches and with plans to open more outlets in the near future.”

The UAE Franchise brand category recognizes franchisors commitment to best practice in business format franchising, with an innovative and effective approach to successfully manage and develop their brand. It was particularly important for entrants to demonstrate their innovativeness and commitment to building a strong brand, while evolving their strategy to promote future growth.

Sumo recently partnered with the World Franchise Association with the aim to sell many more franchise outlets throughout the Middle East.

The Sumo Sushi & Bento concept was launched in 2000 by four entrepreneurs with a dream of creating the first Japanese casual dining restaurant in the UAE. Serving up more than 100 different dishes, Sumo offers customers with a complete range of Japanese inspired items including delicious hot food such as soups, Uramaki, a wide variety of sashimi, and the classic best sellers, Sushi Sandwich, Crunchy Crazy Roll and Bento boxes.
