AUDITIONS FOR THE CLASSIC MOVIE MUSICAL ‘THE WIZARD OF OZ' 22nd and 23rd November 2013 in Dubai, UAE at Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE Presented by Popular Productions Ltd in association with West End Stage Experience From Popular Productions, the award-wining producers behind the UAE's biggest smash hit musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver!, The Sound of Music, and Disney High School Musical comes auditions for a spectacular new production of the legendary musical THE WIZARD OF OZ which will run for nineteen unforgettable performances over two weeks at the Madinat Theatre, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai. One of the most famous books of all time, THE WIZARD OF OZ became legend with the much-loved Oscar winning 1939 movie musical version starring Judy Garland. Now, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the movie, this brilliant live musical version with all the wonderful songs including ‘Over the Rainbow', ‘We're Off to See the Wizard' and ‘Follow The Yellow Brick Road' comes to the Dubai stage. Join Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin-Man and the Cowardly Lion as they journey to meet The Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City! Starring a fantastic cast from London's West End alongside some of the best up and coming UAE talent, THE WIZARD OF OZ, will be on stage at Dubai's ever-popular venue, The Madinat Theatre, Madinat Jumeirah from 3rd-18th April 2014. Popular Productions is seeking UAE based dancers, singers and actors to be part of the cast in this fantastic production. Auditions will take place at the Madinat Theatre on 22nd and 23rd of November 2013 and are free, fun and open to anyone aged 7 to 60 who have the talent and desire to be part of this brilliant experience. THE WIZARD OF OZ is produced in association with The West End Stage Experience, which is the original and best provider of theatre training and performance experiences in the UAE with eight highly successful large scale productions to its name including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver!, The Sound of Music, Disney High School Musical, Annie, Disney High School Musical 2, Fame the Musical and Disney's Camp Rock. These productions have been seen by an amazing 60,000 people in the last few years and give performers the chance to experience a real taste of working in the professional theatre in a fun but disciplined environment. For five fun and busy weeks, the cast rehearses and performs the show under the supervision of our highly experienced creative team, alongside professional performers from London's West End. The cast will develop skills in acting, dancing and singing as well as gaining excellent and valuable experience in professional theatre. There is a training fee applicable for the successful auditionees, which covers license costs, three weeks of rehearsals and training workshops plus the two weeks of performances. Producer Lucy Magee said: ‘We have been looking forward to bringing this classic MGM movie musical to the Dubai stage for some years and cannot wait to get started. This really is going to be the most perfect show for all the family to see. Its much loved story makes this one of the best loved musicals worldwide and the show features all the famous songs, characters and memorable settings of Kansas, The Yellow Brick Road and the Emerald City. We're delighted to be auditioning for a cast in the UAE – many roles are available to audition for and the UAE has plenty of fantastic talent, which we know will work perfectly alongside our select West End professionals in the production.
