Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 26 August 2013: Emirates Foundation for Youth development, an independent organization that instills a sense of social responsibility amongst the youth of this country organizes yet another international trip for communal development through their Takatof International Volunteering Project. Nine of the Emirati volunteers from the foundation have come together and have travelled to Jordan for the very first time to implement a campaign that will require them to do the maintenance and repair work of low cost housing through a habitat for Humanity established program.

Having visited United States of America and Tanzania in the past, the volunteers are currently working on a project that will go on for seven days starting from 24th to the 30th August 2013. The project involves the volunteers to be working on a family home in Ajloun, Jordan.

Commenting on this project Ms. Maytha Al Habsi, Chief Programs Officer, Emirates Foundation for Youth Development said, 'This project is a cornerstone of the program which involves volunteers to come together to achieve the positive effects for community-based activities. The project not only aims at improving the living conditions of families but also to enrich the experience of the youth. The volunteers learn different cultures and various forms of communication which helps them to identify the needs of the low-income communities.

The Takatof International Volunteering Program aims to provide the volunteers with new experiences and enable them to represent UAE internationally. During this project the volunteers will work on this humanitarian project to contribute to the construction of the family home in the province of Ajloun and contribute a total of 500 hours of volunteer work.

Maytha Al Habsi further added, 'These projects aim to contribute to the implementation of many of the activities for social betterment outside the United Arab Emirates, along with giving the volunteers the opportunity to be ambassadors of the country. In addition, the program also wishes to contribute to the establishment of a volunteer culture and develop a way of life among the various members of the UAE society and encourage the youth to invest time for social work”.

The project intends to provide opportunities internationally for the Emirati Volunteers along with new experiences and a chance to represent their country at international youth forums. The Takatof volunteers in the past years have been participating in a variety of activities like maintaining, constructing and refurbishing houses and schools; visiting centers for the elderly, orphans and people with special needs and helping to organize environmental, cultural, artistic and recreational projects and activities.
