Growing regional market potential driving international interest

Series of innovative product launches scheduled by global majors

With the materials handling, warehousing, freight, cargo and supply chain industries rapidly picking up pace in the region spurred by resurgent economies, the upcoming edition of Materials Handling Middle East 2013 is expected to attract increased interest from across the spectrum of the global industry.

The September edition of the region's only dedicated trade platform for materials handling, logistics and supply chain will feature the widest representation yet. According to organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt, Materials Handling Middle East 2013 is expected to begin at least 25% larger than the previous edition. This underlines the growing importance of the Middle East market in the plans of international cargo, freight and supply chain majors.

Lined up for the attention of the largest gathering of trade buyers, professionals, senior representatives from the public & private sectors, wholesalers & retailers, port & transport operators as well as warehouse & storage providers, will be a kaleidoscope of the latest products, trends and developments in the industry.

Exhibitors will be vying for attention with a series of product launches aimed at buyers from across the wider region. These include some of the latest developments in materials handling systems and streamlined storage systems. Exhibitors will also be demonstrating how innovation and new technology is transforming the way the industry works.

“Being the gateway to the exciting markets of the region, Materials Handling Middle East provides international exhibitors with a highly effective channel to address major regional buyers as well as demonstrate the effectiveness of innovative new technology,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “The exhibition continues to offer the regional market a premier forum for the productive exchange of ideas and interaction with leading international players. It also functions as a window to the Middle East for prospective new business,” he stated.

Among those launching innovative new systems in the Middle East is Swisslog, leading Swiss-based providers of automated warehousing solutions. Presenting their revolutionary new automated warehousing system AutoStore to the Middle East for the first time, Business Development Manager Frederic Zielinski said: “Now is certainly the right time to be looking at automation. At Swisslog we have a fairly straightforward approach to what can be seen as a complex issue. We eliminate risk and inefficiencies for customers when delivering new or adapted automated warehouse solutions, but it takes the type of face-to-face opportunities that shows like this offer, to really demonstrate this in more definitive terms.”

Global company Milford IBC are excited to announce the worldwide launch of their UN certified folding Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) which fills a void in the market for the transportation of dangerous goods.

Meanwhile Constromech from the US will be debuting their Collision Sentry safety systems at Materials Handling Middle East 2013. Collision Sentry is designed to ensure a safer working environment especially in areas where materials handling equipment such as trucks and forklifts and people working on the site mingle. The system reduces or eliminates ‘blind corner' collisions by providing a visual warning to operators and pedestrians. Jim Ryan, President of Sentry Protection Products describes it this way: “Anyone working in a high traffic facility will understand Collision Sentry. If there is a blind corner where it is impossible to see traffic, Collision Sentry sees it for you. This device is designed to install quickly and work instantly, especially on pallet rack systems, and it will be priced so that it is possible to place one anywhere it is needed. Because this is a battery-driven device it can be mounted anywhere without worry about an electrical source.”

Regional heavyweights Galadari will present a range of new 4ton, 5ton diesel warehouse trucks. The 4-ton class engine powered forklift truck, FH series FH40/45/50-1, is Komatsu's first forklift truck installed with electronic controlled HST (Hydrostatic Transmission) and variable pump CLSS (closed-center load sensing system).

Elsewhere in the exhibition, Euroroll will be unveiling a range of their live storage systems such as Gravity Conveyors for small cartons to heavy pallets, Push Back cart system “Push Fix”, Speed Controllers (to keep the speed of the cartons/pallets constant for a moving distance of 30 meters or more) as well as Roller Tracks which are special commissioning conveyors for big storage applications.

Materials Handling Middle East 2013 will be the seventh edition of the exhibition and will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 10th to 12th. The four major product areas are: Materials Handling & Lifting Equipment; Logistics and Postal Services Providers; Value added Logistics Services and Warehousing Equipment.
