Proceeds from SWIFT's ‘Wishing Well' initiative will go to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children

Dubai, August 12th – SWIFT, the financial messaging provider for more than 10,000 financial institutions and corporations in 212 countries, today announced that they will be supporting the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) during this year's annual Sibos conference. Now in its 35th year, Sibos is an annual conference; exhibition and networking event organised by SWIFT for the financial services industry and will be held in Dubai from 16-19 September, 2013.

During the conference SWIFT will be rolling out ‘‘Wishing Well''- a charity engagement initiative whereby tokens worth €10 will be handed out to all Sibos delegates.   During the course of the week, delegates will have an opportunity to toss the token into a wishing well for the elected charity - Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. The wishing well will be located at the SWIFT stand, D117, throughout the week.  There will also be a totalizer charting the running total of tokens collected.

DFWAC is a licensed non-profit shelter in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for women and children that are victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. The Foundation provides a helpline, emergency shelter and support services to women and children, also raising awareness through education and outreach.

“Every year at Sibos SWIFT selects a local charity to contribute a donation,” said Stephen Gilderdale, Chief of Staff, SWIFT.  “For Sibos 2013, we are proud to support the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children.  We selected this charity because it is the first of its kind to provide tangible care and support to women and children exposed to any form of abuse across the UAE. We strongly encourage all delegates to visit SWIFT's wishing well with their complimentary tokens to help support this great cause.”

“We are very happy to be collaborating with SWIFT in the “Wishing Well” initiative. It is a great initiative that we are very excited about. The tokens donated by the Sibos delegates
would make the lives of many abused women and children a better one, said ” Afra Al Basti, Director General of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.

Gilderdale added, “Sibos delegates interested to donate their tokens to the wishing well should visit the SWIFT stand located in the Exhibition Hall at D117.  The more tokens collected, the larger the donation the charity will receive.  We look forward to working with the Sibos community on this local charity initiative.”
