Dubai is famous for its vibrant and luxurious lifestyle. The city attracts millions of foreign tourists and visitors each year. However, not everyone can afford the high-end hotels, attractions, and dining. That's why I will share with you the places you can visit in Dubai for free. Let me first tell you why Dubai is expensive for tourists.

Why is Dubai Expensive?

According to Mercer, Dubai is one of the most expensive cities in the Middle East for foreigners, including tourists. The dirham is one of the strongest currencies in the world, which means people from countries with the weakest currencies will find it challenging to visit the most luxurious attractions in Dubai.

If you are a rich person, businessman, a YouTuber with millions of views on videos, belong to a wealthy country with a strong currency, or play on online platforms like Arba7casino, winning thousands of dollars daily (pun intended), only then, you can explore the expensive resorts, restaurants, and attractions in Dubai. Other reasons Dubai is costly are:

  • High demand for luxury properties, housing, and commercial spaces.
  • Dubai primarily relies on imports for most goods, including food.
  • The city is a global tourism hub, contributing to high costs for tourists.
  • Many expatriates visit the city, increasing the demand for labor.
  • Many tourists prefer private transportation, leading to higher costs.
  • Dubai has the strictest laws, and fines for violations are heavy.

Top Places to Visit in Dubai for Free

  • Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood
  • JBR Beach
  • Dubai Fountain Show
  • Grand Bur Dubai Mosque
  • Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Safa Park

Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood

It is the first place you must visit if you have chosen a budget travel option. Al Fahidi's historical neighborhood is along Dubai Creek, allowing tourists to relish Dubai's traditional lifestyle and feel the vibes of the 19th-century lifestyle. You can indulge yourself in the local cuisine, traditional art, different kinds of exhibitions, and vibes of traditional CityLife.

JBR Beach

Another best place to visit in Dubai for free is the JBR beach. Although most of the JBR beach is open to the public, some hotels have occupied a few parts. So, you might not be allowed to explore those areas. But don't worry! You can still enjoy the laid-back beachfront at JBR.

There are many things you can do at the JBR beach for free. For instance, you can relax on the beach. Just bring your parasol and towel to relax and relish the scenic views of the Arabian Gulf. Other free things to enjoy are:

  • Take a dip in the Arabian Sea without any costs
  • Play beach volleyball on the free courts.
  • JBR has a beautiful jogging track where you can jog, walk, or run.
  • Sometimes, you can enjoy free live music events.

Dubai Fountain Show

Did you know Dubai Fountain has over 22,000 gallons of water? Yes, that is true, and you can enjoy the beautiful fountain show for free. I recommend visiting in the evening to make the most of this unique experience.

Make sure you find a reliable viewing spot to enjoy the sound and light show. I usually travel there from Al Nahda-2, a neighborhood in Dubai on the border of Sharjah. I take the green metro line followed by the red line at Union Metro Station in Deira. It takes 12 to 15 minutes to reach Burj Khalifa station. So, if you want to save money on travel, you can take the metro.

Grand Bur Dubai Mosque

Bur Dubai is one of the most famous neighborhoods in Dubai, and it has various attractions for tourists. However, the most important and, of course, the free one to visit is the Grand Bur Dubai Mosque. Authorities built the mosque in 1900 and rebuilt it in 1998. Even if you are a non-Muslim, you can visit the mosque to enjoy:

  • The traditional + modern architecture and the serene environment.
  • Visit the mosque at night for a more beautiful view.
  • Take photos at the mosque to create memorable experiences.

Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

Ral Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the best places to visit in Dubai for free. Here, you can do various activities, such as bird watching, photography, and free guided tours, allowing you to learn about 67 species. You can see grey herons, flamingos, the great egrets, and more.

The Wildlife Sanctuary is open between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. However, if you visit Dubai between October and March, visit the Sanctuary between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. If you are lucky, you may experience wildlife events at this Sanctuary.

Safa Park

Although Safa Park is not 100% free, you can enjoy the place for just 3 AED. The park has play areas, barbeque spots, three lakes, and over 300 bird species. Thanks to the 17,000 different types of shrubs, bushes, and trees, you can enjoy the green landscape.

Thus, you can escape Dubai's hustle and bustle and indulge in this green space. Moreover, you can explore free areas, experience the Safari Journey, and sustainable conservations. If you have kids, they can enjoy the Kids Farm.

Final Words About Free Places to Visit in Dubai

Dubai is a beautiful, vibrant, modern city, and millions of tourists visit it annually. However, Dubai is one of the most expensive cities in the Middle East, preventing budget travelers from making the most of the city. The good news is that you can visit these places in Dubai for free and make memories.
