UAE, 4 March 2020: The Dubai Government Workshop (DGW) was recently awarded with a certificate of classification in recognition of its adherence to Cabinet Resolution No. 61 of 2019, or the UAE's regulations on the conformity requirements for vehicle maintenance establishments and service centers. DGW was one of the first entities in the country to obtain the certificate, which was received on behalf of the Workshop by Aqil Mustafa Al Janahi, Director of Engineering Maintenance Department, from H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA). H.E. Abdullah Al Muaini, ESMA's Director General, was present during a special ceremony organized to honor 16 major companies that complied with the Cabinet Resolution. The resolution was passed to standardize the procedures and types of services provided by car maintenance facilities and service centers operating in the country. Through standardization, it aims to promote fair competition in the local market and guarantee customer satisfaction across the Emirates.

H.E. Fahad Ahmed Al-Raeesi, CEO of DGW, said the Workshop voluntarily implemented the new requirements for vehicle repair facilities and service centers even before the changes set by the resolution take effect in November 2021. The move also reaffirms DGW's commitment to support the ‘Federal System for Classification of Repair Facilities and Vehicle Service Centers,' a framework critical to improving the level of services in the industry.
