DP World joins forces with Dubai Cares in giving a new facelift to Umm Al Qura School in Um Al Quwain
• 200 volunteers supported the initiative, which is set to benefit 1,200 students
• DP World has generously sponsored this edition 
 
 
Dubai, UAE, 7 December 2019:  Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, hosted on Saturday the last edition of Volunteer Emirates 2019, in support of Umm Al Qura School in Um Al Quwain. This edition, which was generously sponsored by DP World, witnessed an impressive participation of 200 volunteers who helped in the renovation of the school to enrich the learning environment for 1,200 students.
 
The new facelift included the creation of educational murals to enhance the learning environment in the school. Volunteers also assembled desk and chairs for the classrooms, and helped install educational tools for students of determination. In addition, printers and copy machines were set up along with playground toys and shades in the kindergarten area
 
This initiative has also received the support of Taqeef, the Middle East's market leader in AC supply solutions, which has generously provided the school with 44 air conditioning units on a probono basis for the comfort of students.
 
 
Speaking about this edition of Volunteer Emirates in Um Al Quwain, Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares, said: “Last March, we kicked off our first school refurbishing edition of Volunteer Emirates in Dubai, and we are delighted to host our last edition today in the extreme north of UAE, in Umm Al Qura School in Um Al Quwain. Through this community engagement initiative, Dubai Cares seeks to support not for profit schools across the UAE, so children and teachers have the best learning environment. We are very grateful to DP World for generously sponsoring this initiative and for helping UAE students realize their dreams and get on the best footing for a bright and successful future.”
 
 
Thouraya Cherbib, Principal of Umm Al Qura School said: “We are grateful to Dubai Cares, DP World, Taqeef and all volunteers who dedicated their time and energy in in enriching the learning environment in our school. We've seen the values of generosity, commitment, and respect here today, which is a powerful example for our students to look up to.”
 
 
Hyacinth Agnas a volunteer from the Philippines said: “Volunteering with Dubai Cares makes us very happy and fulfilled. What we did today will certainly help children to thrive over the course of their learning journey.”
